InactiveEver since digital switchover, I have experienced problems. It usually happens every Wednesday, when I cannot change channels, record, pause, etc.,. Also the clock “sticks”. But, unfortunately, it’s also happened today, a Friday.
I have sent countless e-mails to the Humax helpline, but they do not bother to reply. I’ve also tried ‘phoning, but I am not prepared to hold on and pay Humax “X” amount of pounds.
Yesterday, when I entered “recorded progmmes modes”, I scrolled down to HDD – I thought all I had to do was format the hard disc and everything would be alright – but, no, all it did was to delete all my recorded programmes which is so distastrous. How do I get them back?!
I have contacted BBC’s “Watchdog”, re-iterating some of the above, but have not received the courtesy of a reply. Perhaps if you would all contact them then something might be done.

Which Humax box do you have? the usual reason for the symptoms you describe is running an old version of the software. Can you tell us what version the box is running?

Sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings but just like a computer, formatting the drive will permanently delete all recordings. Theoretically it might be possible to recover them but as no one has written software to do it then they are lost.

But most of us are not suffering the problems you describe, Yes all the Humax boxes have some niggles but then so do all the other PVRs and most are worse than the Humax.

InactiveMartin, it is PVR-9300T. Yes, I’ve lost my recordings and I am gutted, but ce’a la vie. I am just, absolutley, disappointed that Humax cannot bother to get back to me. As I said in my post I have contacted BBC’s “Watchdog” and will contact my daily paper to express my concerns. This is all due to digital switchoevr!

InactiveMartin, are you employed by Humax?

Martin, are you employed by Humax?
Most certainly not. Would you care to tell us what software version your box is running so we can see if we can resolve your problem (Menu>System>Status if I remember correctly). Software version and System ID would both be helpful.

InactiveSorry, but why should I know what software I’m using. All I know is that I have a Humax box and I am having problems. It’s surely not rocket science!

InactiveWatchdog may tell you to read the instruction manual. Quote from page GB 50 of my version.
Quote:5. Select Format and press the OK button to remove all therecorded programmes saved on the HDD and initialise the
HDD.
6. Select Yes when the format confirmation message appears and
enter a password to start formatting the HDD.
Note:
• The format deletes all the recorded programmes saved on the
HDD including TV, radio, MP3s and photos. Formatting does not
delete the system files of the product.
If you want help on this or any other forum then I think you are going about it the wrong way.

Sorry, but why should I know what software I’m using.
I am trying to help you, believe it or not. You could be suffering from one of a number of problems. To try and diagnose the problem remotely in a vaguely scientific way we need some input from you. On the Humax Remote press Menu; then select System then select Status and tell us the Software version and the System ID. Obviously if you didn’t come here for help in resolving the problem then there is no point in answering. However most people do actually come for assistance and the Forum members do manage to resolve a reasonably high percentage of problems (but sadly not a hundred percent).

ParticipantHi Jan
Please remember that this is a ‘user forum’ not a manufacturer’s support forum. The people who frequent here do so out of a desire to help others on a purely voluntary basis. There are a lot of knowledgeable people across a wide spectrum of expertise.
The reason Martin is asking for your software version and system ID is that there have been changes to the broadcast system which have caused problems that have been addressed and rectified with software updates, but some units had a corrupted System ID which prevented the update of the software.

InactiveSorry, Martin, but I just felt that no-one was listening to me. The Software Version is UPTTF 1.00.19 and the System ID is 3028.0000.
I hope this can help

InactiveJust check the System ID again, it should be 3023.0000 acording to the Humax web site.
