Hi! I’m a new member.
I’ve finally decided to give up on our 9300T, whose performance has degraded over the years. The final straw is my failure to overcome the jumping-on-playback issue, which mostly affected Film4 recordings, but increasingly ruins C4 & STV, too.
We have clear line-of-sight with the Angus transmitter, just 17 miles away, and I thought the problem might be too strong a signal overloading the splitter/amplifier in the loft. I had hoped that finely adjusting the aerial, using a signal strength meter and attenuator pads, might make a difference, but it didn’t. I’d already tried everything else I could think of.
Like others in this thread, I believe the modulation scheme of the digital transmissions has been changed and several Humax models have effectively become obsolete. It would have been nice if the Tx & Rx engineers had been straight about this, but I presume they want to avoid possible compensation claims.
I’ve been hoping, as a matter of principle, that a non-Humax Best Buy replacement would appear if I waited, but none has. I am still peeved that the 9300T refuses to record reliably when the HDD is only 70% full! Hence I’m going to buy the new FVP-5000T 2GB and hope for the best. If it so much as glitches once, it’s going right back!
