stwarr – 15 minutes ago » com7 is listed as 36700 Watts; whereas the adjacent com8 is only 5500 Watts
Listed where?
Yeah – I was looking here: http://www.ukfree.tv/transmitters/tv/Hannington,
but I see that this is old info.

InactiveNine reports.
Five HDR-2000T, one HDR-1800T.
Two YouView.
One non-Humax (BGT3690)
Eight Hannington, one (probably?) Crystal Palace.
Hmm…

Given that you need to have fairly advanced knowledge to: 1) care enough that you have lost a selection of HD channels when the SD versions are still fine; 2) associate this with a particular region/Freeview transmitter; 3) have enough knowledge of DVB-T to narrow this down to a particular multiplex; 4) then get lucky during a web search to find people who are experiencing the same issue, I’d say that the chances are that there are many more unreported cases.

InactiveNot sure of that. HDR2000T users have bought a HD box, it would be odd not to notice the loss of HD channels. The same for YouView users. And both categories have access to support lines and dedicated forums. No need to know anything about MUXes, to pick up the phone and enquire about missing channels.

InactiveActually, thinking a little further on this, it seems it can hardly be a widespread issue affecting Humax and YouView boxes generally. No way to guess how many HDR-2000T boxes are receiving from the Hannington transmitter, but there certainly must be a very large number of YouView boxes in the Hannington area, considering the millions that have been put into circulation by BT nationwide. Yet there seem to be only three reports of YouView boxes losing COM7.
Local RF interference or water ingress to cables perhaps should be looked at. The launch of Spike, with its much-trumpeted Breaking Bad offer, triggered a lot of retunes. That could have resulted in some boxes with local issues losing the low-powered COM7.

It’s not like it’s the top line HD channels – when I did the retune after Spike, I wasn’t sure if I’d picked up COM7 before when it didn’t work, but I’d not missed any of the channels it’s providing. Wasn’t till I saw this thread I realised there was definitely a problem…

True, they’re not the most heaviy used HD channels.
Nor universally available – No COM 7 on my transmitter (Lark Stoke).

And even where they are available, it’s still only temporary, so they may vanish for everyone within a year or two. But the point I’m making is that if all, most, or many Humax/YouView users in the Hannington area had suddenly lost COM7 after previously being able to receive it, we would probably be seeing more reports.

InactiveWhy is this thread about Hannington? I have had no channels from 106 to 111 for a number of days and that’s with my Panasonic tv’s tuner and the 2000T.
Transmitter is Sutton Coldfield.

It may be that you were just lucky being able to receive those channels and the weather conditions have now changed, but not in your favour.
Have you had your aerial changed from the old Sutton Coldfield range to the current frequency range?
Are the new channels on COM8 watchable on either the Pan or the 2000T? COM8 on Sutton Coldfield is nearer the old range and if you can’t receive from that frequency it is unlikely that you can from COM7.
You may also be receiving interference from Belmont which would not help and make it easier for COM7 to drop out of sight.

It appears the new channel message on the Panny was switched off. I have updated channels and the channel list now ends at 105 with the next channel being 120 cbeebies I think. What the hell gives?
Nothing changed at my end hardware wise.

InactiveOk, another Crystal Palace user here, issue across 3 receivers
Postcode: KT19
Humax HD-T2
Humax HDR-T2
PCTV Systems DVB-T2 292e nanoStick
Receiving no signal on COM7 services in a strong signal area, from the same new rooftop aerial that was previously receiving all channels with 70%+ signal strength – a retune tonight brought this to light so I guess could have disappeared over the last few weeks….

InactiveOur missing channels have just come back up i.e. 106 to 110 on both the TV and the 2000T so I can only assume there must have been some temporary issue on the SC transmitter.
Weird though as the transmitter webpage was reporting no current issues.

InactiveOn the HDR-T2 I have input the frequency and channel from:
http://www.ukfree.tv/transmitters/tv/Crystal_Palace
Ch: 33
Freq: 570 MHz
for COM7 in the manual search, and there is no signal (or channels) registered.
What is even more interesting, is a full power cycle of the PCTV Systems DVB-T2 292e (running through tvheadend on a media server) now allows me to see COM7 programmes from the same aerial input….
I can’t get the nanostick to fail again following the power cycle. So this does somehow appear to be Humax specific.
Humax HDR-T2 has been re-tuned several times and picks up all other multiplex’s including COM8 QVC HD channels.
The HD-T2 is packed away since testing earlier.
