That is really mysterious then, as I haven’t seen any posts to suggest it is working on any other Humax HD recorder.
My post was rather long so I guess that’s why you had not spotted me reporting a working HD-FOX (#21), but my report of a HDR-FOX recorder was short and even older (#16)!

The HDR-FOX T2 (1.03.12) that I use for Youtube works and has never stopped working.
Oops! Of course it stopped working but only for a short period and needed no manual intervention to make it start working as usual for Youtube.
I’m beginning to think that each day each of my Humaxes is tossing a coin to decide what it will and wont do.

internet access isn’t the problem, so disconnecting the recorder and the router wouldn’t logically seem to make any difference.
Using Win7 and AVG will have no difference unless you’ve the Humax setup to connect via your Win7 computer. In which case that would explain all of the problems you’re seeing.
Have you cold rebooted the Humax and Router?
Logically it makes perfect sense to cold reboot both, iplayer and youtube will connect to different servers and open up different ports and connections, it makes perfect sense that Humax can see youtube and get a listing, but could be hindered in opening up a further port to get the stream – There are a multitude of reasons that could be stopping this from working. Cold rebooting is the first thing that should be tried regardless of whether it makes sense or seems illogical to some people.
I was hoping people could confirm that they have properly fully rebooted and reset and if they have we could be looking at dongles and ISP’s. Dongles are a nightmare and should be avoided if possible, ISP’s will traffic shape and block network connections, there will be a difference between adsl and fibre and just because iplayer will work on a PC it doesn’t mean it will work on a Humax and vice-versa.
I think Barry’s case is most interesting, youtube working on a 1800/2000T and not on a HDRFoxT2, presumably all hard wired direct to the same router or through the same hub and all using manual ip’s or all using dhcp. In the past I’ve had one of the earlier Gbit hubs block traffic and connections – took a while to find

InactiveI’m reluctant to re-boot my router because when I try to access it, it asks me for a username and password when I don’t even remember creating them. I feel sure that it simply set itself up without me doing anything. I don’t want to risk being locked out, so I’ll have to contact TalkTalk for advice and then give it a try.
Edit – panic over… found them, so I’ll give it a try.

Inactivegeneric password tends to be admin/admin for talktalk, using that will give you a warm reboot and won’t always clear everything, unplugging the router from mains will give you a cold reboot, sometimes disconnecting the telephone/adsl/fibre line at the same time helps, don’t do this more than 10 times as the exchange will think there’s a problem and throttle the connection. This also applies to people saving the environment and unplugging/switching-off their routers overnight
Thanks Barry, youtube still working here on a HDRFoxT2, shame I don’t have a 2000T to play with

InactiveOkay, tried that. No difference, except that unless it’s just my imagination, the “loading” animation might possibly be spinning slightly faster.

ModeratorCan those having problems, check again please. Humax advise changes have been made at server.
(As reported in other thread my HDR T2’s are now working, HD T2 still fails to connect to portal)

InactiveBrilliant! YouTube now working again. It still won’t play some videos due to file format problems, but I can live with that.
All it needs now is for Humax to look at the huge numbers of suggestions for improvements listed on Digital Spy

Those are old threads aimed at the 9200T and many (but by no means all) of the requested features were implemented; can you explain what use you think there would be in trawling through them?

InactiveYou’re quite right – a Google search took me there when I was researching the pros and cons of different makes and I didn’t realise how old most of them are

Mind you, I didn’t notice any acknowledgement from Humax that they’d taken on board some of the suggestions.

There was a limited amount of engagement from Humax a few years ago but not recently.
