InactiveLooks like something similar happened about a year ago…

InactiveI have read the previous posts and guess what, I have the exact same problem; COM7 has vanished on my HDR-2000T. My Sony TV is working fine. I also live in Reading. I’ve tried all the manual retune and factory reset stuff to no avail. Same thing, no signal on channel 32. I’d emailed Humax support before I found this forum, no response yet. Not sure what to do next. Any ideas welcome.

InactiveHi All
Still no joy. I tried placing an attenuator in the aerial path (as some have suggested and tried) but to no avail.
I called Humax on Friday (my 4th time in the last 2 weeks). I had barely started speaking when they said “ah the COM7 MUX problem”, confirming they are aware. They did say that “not many people have contacted them about this” so I got the distinct feeling they are not too fussed. The rep told me to contact Digital UK as the boxes are not broken and there is little if anything Humax can do. I was told it was more likely to be too much signal power than too little (with the Humax having a signal amp built in).
Even if it can’t be fixed I’d still like to know what happened at Hannington around the 14th April.

InactiveI’m still kind of hoping COM7 will eventually return as mysteriously as it disappeared. It’s the first problem I’ve ever had with freeview reception from Hannington since On Digital days, when my wideband aerial was put on the roof. I have to say that regardless of what may have triggered this issue, I blame Humax 100% for the inconvenience because my TV is still receiving all channels perfectly well.

Surely it would depend on a technical analysis of the problem; either something has been done at Hannington which is outside the scope of the relevant standards in which case the operator of the transmitter is at fault or the Humax is failing to respond to something that is unusual but within the standard in which case Humax are at fault. Clearly what it needs is Humax to have a dialogue with the appropriate body. Barry do you know if Humax are aware of this problem at the appropriate level?

YouView users affected by this problem can contact YouView Customer Services, which may get more attention than contacting Humax.

InactiveSeven reports so far – not a lot, for such a big area, but odd that only Humax boxes seem to be afflicted.

InactiveHi All
If it’s a Humax PVR only problem, then I would agree with posters who feel that Humax is at fault and should at the very least be letting their customers know (perhaps via this forum) that they’re on the case. Having only purchased the box in Feb and having no plans to leave the Hannington area, I’d also greatly appreciate knowing if COM7 will be restored in future.
To think I gave up my trusty Humax PVR-9300T (5 years service with no issues) for the HDR-2000T, to take advantage of Freeview HD (LOL). When I also consider that only a few weeks ago I was posting about not being able to access files on the HDD (kindly resolved by a factory reset courtesy of MyHumax members) then I’m thus far not too impressed with my decision to stick with Humax.
Too early to throw in the towel but if this problem is confined to Humax PVR’s and this can’t be fixed, I will be seriously considering exchanging for another manufacturer (which my retailer is ok with if the worst comes to the worst).

InactiveReply from Humax
Dear Sir,
Try your HDR on a different aerial if you can. COM 7 is broadcast at lower power so may be below the HDRs threshold on your aerial. If the other muxes are fine then I doubt there is a problem with the tuners in the HDR.
Best Regards
Louis
Not exactly helpful. I don’t have another aerial and my TV is working fine on COM7.

InactiveMy reply from Humax was to manually tune in the freeview unit from factory settings,This did not work!

ModeratorNo consolation to those with the problem….however
Humax Towers are on the case.
There are I think at least 9 other main transmitters that use chan 32 for Com 7 and having just had a quick look see at other popular forums (DS and AV), do not see any reports of issues. If any of you who visit other places regularly know different then please do advise.
Does this suggest the problem is peculiar to Hannington?

Barry, thanks for the response. I am a neutral in this discussion but looking at the evidence I do think it is a problem that is specific to Hannington (at this point in time but these things have been known to spread) and that it started around the 14th April. An obvious line of attack would be for Humax to use their industry contacts to find out if any change was made at Hannington around that date.
