InactiveHi,
I have an old Fox T2 that works perfectly with Filezilla, but I can’t get the FVP 4000T to work.
I have tried resetting the 4000T, but it still doesn’t work.
I use the correct IP for the 4000T
HumaxFTP for the Username
Password 0000
Any ideas, please?
Thanks David

ParticipantHi welcome to our forum. Try temporarily disabling your Virus Checker Firewall.
Can you map the box in Windows Explorer using the Samba server ?
What version of Windows (or other OS) are you using ?

InactiveThanks for the reply:
I have turned off the anti virus and the firewall.
Windows 10
I can use Filezilla on the Fox T2, but it wont connect on the 4000T, it states the following:
Command: PASS ****
Response: 530 Login incorrect.
Error: Critical error: Could not connect to server
I’m sorry but I don’t know what you mean Map the drive in Samba, I believe that Samba is a piece of software?

Have you checked that the FTP server is turned on (on the 4000T))?

Samba is a Windows File server. If you open windows explorer and look under network, you should see your 4000T provided the box samba server is turned on. This gives you access using standard windows file copying (drag and drop, copy and paste). If you have the custom firmware on your HDR-FOX-T2 you can also use Samba.
I don’t have the 4000T but I believe ftp isn’t useful if you want to copy recording files due to encryption on all recorded files.

InactiveHi Graham, Thanks for the reply, yes I can access the 4000T in Windows explorer, but I can only use the Download Folder (not the main Video Folder)( on the 4000T to copy too.
With Filezilla on the Fox T2, I can upload files to the main Video Folder.
What I can’t understand is why I can use Filezilla on the Fox T2 but not on the 4000T.
It seems that I need to use a different username or password?

Have you read the bit in the manual that says “Check if the password is correct. Go to HOME > SETTINGS > Network Settings > File Share and set a new password.”?

InactiveHi Martin,
Thanks for the suggestion, but I have just tried creating a password and without a password and neither works.
As I mentioned Filezilla is working fine on my Fox T2.

InactiveI thought I would try installing Filezilla on my wife’s laptop, but I just got the same result, it won’t connect.
I still believe that there is a problem with the user name: HumaxFTP or the Password 0000
I have tried changing the password but no luck.

Not much help as I do not usually use FileZilla..however
Just tried and it worked, all I did was to put the IP address of the FVP into host box and hit OK, ie no username, no password:
Status:Connection established, waiting for welcome message…
Status: Insecure server, it does not support FTP over TLS.
Status: Logged in
Status: Retrieving directory listing…
Status: Directory listing of “/” successful
Status: Retrieving directory listing of “/Recordings”…
Status: Directory listing of “/Recordings” successful

InactiveHi Barry,
I don’t suppose you remember me, I was a member of your group years ago when I had a 9125? you helped me then too.
I just tried it without the Username and yes it accessed the 4000T, but it won’t let me upload to any of the folders except the Download Folder.
Is there a way to change the settings on the other folders to be able to Write too?

Imagine that’s because the recording folders are themselves encrypted.
Don’t expect the sort of access you can get on a HDR-Fox-T2. If you bought the 4000T expecting the same sort of access, that finished with the HDR=FOX-T2. Even the later boxes using the similar UI (1800T/2000T) have similar restrictions.

Basically you have the capability to import external content in a format the box can display to a folder (the download folder) that you can replay it from. At a guess you can replay from a usb drive as well.
There is little point in uploading content to the encrypted recording partitions. because without the associated sidecar support files the box will not be able to playback anyway.
The HDR-FOX-T2 support files (.nts and .hmt) are not supported and if present on a USB drive will confuse the box anyway. If you rename or delete these the box media player should replay these without issue for un-encrypted content.
Not clear what you are trying to achieve ?
What’s a 9125 ? The first twin tuner Humax SD box was the 9200T, followed by the 9150T and the 9300T.
The first single tuner Freeview box was the 9800T.
