Thanks all.

Hi,
I have tried 6 different USB stick all FAT32 and the file in the root – with no luck!. The box did try and update automatically last night, but it was recording so put up a message to Update Now or Later, but there was no way to accept either option. After all the recording had ended it still had the same message with no option than reboot to get did of the message or use the box. Trying to just let it update automatically now, but its giving the standard 2-3 minutes message which means another reboot in a few hours. Can someone tell me what holding the Channel Down button does when powering back up, and how long to hold so it takes effect?
Welcome to our Forum

If your unit is connected to the internet then try to update now via the system menu.

InactiveIt is connected and I have been trying constantly for the past 2 days, but it just sits saying searching. I keep trying, but have to power off to try again every half hour. Humax support said they were updating in batches, could it be my box is not in their current batch? Any idea what holding the Channel down achieves on power restoration? I don’t want to loose all scheduled programs, otherwise I would do a Factory reset.

ModeratorHolding the channel down on power restoration can be used when updating from USB pendrive if updating via system menu fails.
A factory reset does not delete recordings, it does delete your schedule and any other user settings that have been adjusted.

InactiveGuess that is why Humax call it a ‘factory default’ and not a ‘factory reset’.

Oh how I wished I had known the holding down the Down Channel button method did not disrupt the setup, recording or scheduled programs as it would have saved 10hrs frustration! Thanks for the knowledge, it will be my trusted method in future. So simple!

InactiveI don’t know if this has been mentioned by anyone yet but skip forward/back no longer requires multiple button presses. Just press the right or left cursor keys and up pops the scroll bar. Ok you need to press it again to skip but that’s better than pressing OK or Play first. Also the scroll bar disappears much faster than before.

InactiveAlso like the new way to get the “On Demand” elements (down arrow). Very nice. R-

InactiveThis is For all of you who use a Harmony remote. When you set it up to control the FVP-4000, there were buttons assigned to Recordings and Settings. I’m pretty sure neither worked. Now the Recordings button takes you straight to the recordings screen. The Settings button still doesn’t work (at least not on my 650).

InactiveI should say first of all that I haven’t been on the forum for a few days and so was unaware this had rolled out.
Turned on the box this morning and got the Humax splash screen with blue light, then the screen went dark and after 30 seconds the red light came on.
Pressed the power button on the Humax remote and the blue light came on. A few seconds later BBC 2 came on the screen.
Pressed 101 and the red light came on, but box still on and showing BBC2!. Waited a bit and pressed the power key, blue light comes on and a ‘Home Screen Renewal’ overlay appears.
Great, I thought the new software has rolled out overnight. Press the Home key, nothing happens. Press the Guide button, nothing happens.
Puzzled I press the power key and the box turns off. Left it for a while and turned back on. All seems okay apart from one huge issue. I now have no recordings! The recordings screen shows the drive is roughly 75% full but no recordings are shown on the right.
I’m turning it off at the mains and hoping they magically return.

InactiveYeasterday there was a message on the screen about new access to settings I thought, unfortunately did not write down what it said. Accidentally pressed ok and now I can only access on demand, tv guide, recordings and media but no access to settings. What can I do?

InactiveHi,
I was considering buying a FVP 4000t but was put off by the reports of poor software.
How much better has this firmware update made the operating system?
Are ‘you’ expecting further updates that tackle the other problem area’s? such as blank thumbnails, no list view available for recorded programs etc etc.
Thanks in advance
