InactiveQuestion for Barry (or anyone else that has contacts with Humax).
Vision IPTV the people that run IPTV Channels on 110, 111, & 112 say that Humax have not enabled the streaming extention in order for these channels to work on the HDR-FOX-T2, Do you know if Humax intend to do this?

ModeratorThis is my own personal take on the matter.
The Freeview HD units, when released, conformed to the spec as was. There is no obligation for manufacturers to put resources into changing/updating software to support later channel launches etc.
However I will ask Humax Towers if they have any plans to support these channels.

InactiveI think I can answer my own question now, This is an E-mail from Humax. QUOTE :-
It will NOT work on our T2 products. As we do not support the MHEG Stream required.
It is now a Freeview HD requirement to support this but as the T2 products were launched prior to any specification being available we are not required to update the products to support it.
Sports tonight website states that all Freeview HD products should be compatible, this is not the case.
Humax may in future update to support this type of channel but at the current time we cannot confirm this will be the case.
Kind Regards,
Colin

Also it is not known if this is something that can be changed in software, It may need different hardware

InactiveIt’s an MHEG issue not hardware!

Inactive… and that’s a very poor response from Humax.

InactiveIs the real issue here that Humax want payment from Vision IPTV to enable these services.
Not ongoing or anything BUT just to cover the cost associated with implementing this modification to the standard.

InactiveSeems buying the Humax T2 was not a good idea then – if I want the streaming services?

InactiveSo it is 100% definite this is a hardware issue?
Your reply was a little ambiguous… I’ve been unable to locate any statements by Humax on the matter!
Is it also an hardware issue why SkyGO is unable to become active?

InactiveAs an happy user of humax sd pvr I’ve decided to wait until YouView becomes active, or the pvr dies, before making a new pvr purchase decision.
BUT, HDRs are definitely out of the running due to their hardware limitations.

InactiveThanks Barry so it is a software issue rather than an hardware issue.
Still some hope that the issues can be corrected.

As I understand it – yes.
Will update as soon as I get anything definitive from Humax Towers.

ModeratorI have added a poll to this thread.
Note: This is not to signify any change in the current thinking as detailed in this thread, it is just to gauge how many would actually use the service(s).
You may want to point your browser at this site to get a general idea of what is available/planned.
