What options are there for watching Netflix on the Humax Aura?
The device doesn’t have an Netflix app and as I understand it may or may not in the future.
I’ve tried to Cast from my mobile or table, and that doesn’t show the Humax Aura as an option. Youtube on the phone works and I can cast from that, so I know the Chromecast functionality in the Aura is working. I’ve used Netflix with an Google Chromecast 1st generation and that works fine.
I assume Netflix have worked out a way to block the Humax Aura completely?
The only option I have got to work so far is using Google Chrome browser on laptop, loading Netflix and then doing a cast from Google Chrome and that worked.
You can side-load the Netflix app, but it’s far from a seamless user experience. But does appear to work nonetheless…
On a PC/Mac:
– download the Netflix apk using a website or program (search ‘apk download’)
– copy to a FAT formatted USB key
On Aura box:
– Plug in your USB key.
– Install X-plore from the Tools section in Google Play.
– Run X-plore from APPS.
– Navigate to the apk on your USB key.
– Pressing OK on the file should run it.
– Follow the prompts to install and then run.
– You’ll be asked to allow installing from unknown sources, accept this to install.
Using Netflix on Aura:
– You’ll need a mouse and keyboard to sign in for the first time.
– When done you can just use a mouse to navigate around the app (a bluetooth or other wireless device with a scroll wheel is ideal for this).
– Some transport functions work on the remote (Play/Pause, skip, etc), as does ‘back’.
– Each time you want to re-run Netflix you’ll have to go to ‘Settings / Apps’ from the Home screen, find in ‘Installed apps’ list, then ‘open’.
– The app may initially appear in ‘system apps’ and then move.
I don’t know how stable it is but have watched a few half-hour programmes without any problem. With any luck a proper app that fully integrates with the Aura won’t be too far off…
Please don’t post support requests for the above method – it’s unofficial and may break things or cause undesired effects. However if anyone has improvements or a better solution, fire away!
This version is a patched apk which involves zero mouse needed, but only outputs in 480p at 1750kbps.

Or if want one that outputs at 1080 at 5800kbps then you can google Netflix Version 4.16.3 patched apk and on xda forums you will find it, but need mouse as mobile based.
Unless Humax gets a cert, which is doubtful there is work arounds. Although all at own risk.

I’ve been using it now for a week and all good. It’s properly integrated into the Aura menu, doesn’t need mouse or keyboard and just works!
I don’t have 4k TV, but using with 1080 working fine.
Eh. I give up on the Humax Aura completely now. Was promised an all in one and it failed in multiple ways for me now.
Listed it on eBay UK for <200 if anyone wants it.

I can confirm this method works! Full 4k HDR and Dolby Digital Plus passthrough.
No problems so far. Works exactly as you would expect it to.
If only there was a work around for NOW TV and support for DTS-HD MA & True HD audio the box would be complete! 😥

How do you install Netflix once you have installed Kodi? There’s no instructions and if you’ve never used Kodi how are you supposed to know? Sorry just noticed that this mentioned now tv but I still need to know how to install Netflix. Thanks.

If you download the tool from here it will compile the netflix app on your pc to work with your box. https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/app-mod-netflix-6-1-3-build-2482-atv-for-uncertified-devices-by-netflix.4232373/#post-84492289 you don’t need to use the Kodi method this way, you will need to install the DRM Info app on your Aura from the play store to get the info that the tool requires to compile the Netflix app.
