Currently there is no stand alone app for Britbox available for the Aura.

If you have Amazon prime you can access it as an add on prime video channel.

Side loading the app may work I can’t verify this if it does.

I see there is talk to add Britbox to Freeview play, so I would assume it should appear fairly soon plus it has appeared on other PVRs currently being sold.

Anyone knows if this is a licensing issue or anything else?

If you search the forum you will find that sideloading Britbox has been done (but that’s no guarantee it is still possible).

Britbox is not available not only the Aura but also Google Chromecast with Google TV. The Britbox app is on US Canada & Australia Play Stores. When installed on both devices and opened you get a message that Britbox is currently not available in your country

Britbox is available on the UK PlayStore via most Android devices.

It’s not overly complicated to use another device to download the app and then extract it. Why not try it and see?

Extracting Britbox app from a Firestick and installing on the Aura does work. Yes Britbox is available on UK Google Play Store for other Android devices but not for Google’s own “Chromecast with Google TV” device

I really don’t understand the point you are trying to make?

The question was asked whether Britbox can be sideloaded and even you yourself say it can, what is the relevance of the rest of your post? Are you saying that a UK version of the Britbox app (when sideloaded onto the Aura) gives the result in post #7?

Britbox app for Google’s Chromecast with Google TV device is not on UK Play Store but is available on the Play Stores in US, Canada & Australia. As I have google accounts in these countries I have installed the Britbox app from these stores on to the Aura and also Chromecast with Google TV and the app when opened it says “Britbox is not currently available in your Country”. App locked to country it was downloaded from?

All I am trying to say Britbox app for Android Tv is not available on UK Play Store for Google’s own device but is in other countries Play Store’s.

@SSThing, as you do not have an Aura, this is another pointless discussion!

@SSThing, as you do not have an Aura, this is another pointless discussion!

    What exactly is your problem?

The question was asked, it’s been answered in the forum before and 37416 himself has said that he has sideloaded a none UK apk but it doesn’t work.

Mars, if you want to be helpful, post a solution instead of just snidey comments. Otherwise, as I pointed out previously, the only person being unhelpful is the person who offers no help at all.

    Grow up!
