Martin hi good morning, well the results are in – I had to wait for daylight .. the current aerial was put up 10 years ago and it is 100 percent guaranteed that it does indeed POINT towards a transmitter called

    SANDY HEATH

Does this mean I now need to start again on the manual tune with a different set of Ch Numbers? etc

Do you have Google earth on your PC ?

Most houses nearby are pointing to sandy Heath direction.

hi all, I don’t have google earth sorry. I did some asking on the local WhatsApp about tv connections. There seems to be some stories about tv aerial changes being done because of the demise of analogue Tv sets, also because the local transmitter was going to cease to operate , and also again it was down for 6 months or operating on low power so no one could watch anything.. one thing for sure.. something prompted a “mass” aerial activity , most of which resulted in re-positioning – rightly or wrongly.

my own experience continues to be poor coverage and lost channels and broken pixelated picture quality… I continue to log the issues on my note pad. Sky news is the worst, bbc4 and racing tv not there, along with a lot of other channels showing “not available” .

I live approximately 15 miles north of the Sandy Heath TV transmitter, just outside Peterborough.

With an outside aerial on the chimeny I have no issues with TV reception from SH and yes, the aerial does point at SH not Waltham or Tacleneston. Two aerials and combiner/amp were needed to get CH5 up until digital switch over. These have were removed ages ago.

Dont still have 2 aerials by any chance?

    Bogbody – hi – no I don’t have 2 aerials – was a terminology error – had a splitter.

I am getting the occasional picture breakup/pixelation but only for a second or two. It’s more flaky than the 5000t I have. Aura sIgnal strength is in the high 80% and quality is between 95-100%, sometimes reaching 100% I don’t know if this can be fixed by firmware updates. If it starts to annoy me it’s going back.

Certain channnels don’t display for me due to weak signal. The aerial works fine on my tv so there must be a box issue

So what signal strength and quality is the Aura reporting on the channels that it can receive?

I had a lot of breakup on the main PSB hd channels on my new box, and signal strength and quality was poor. Turns out I was picking them up from a relay and not the main transmitter, doing a manual scan on the correct channel for the main transmitter (and changing type to dvb-t2) resolved the issue for me.

I’ve fitted an attenuator but lowest signal strength I can get is 90% might need to purchase a better one

Has it made any difference? Whilst I would normally advise going a bit lower than 90% (typically 80% – 85%) I would have expected you would see an improvement if signal strength is the problem.
