    https://www.freeview.co.uk/help/coverage-checker/detailed-view

This suggests 29,31,37,41,44,47,55 are the channels you need to manually tune to. You previous post indicates that you are picking up additional signals from a second transmitter (possibly because of the amp).

Put the aerial lead directly into the Humax, delete all the channels and do a full channel search and then report back.

    post code OX5 3BS

I put ypur postcode in the Freeview checker and it said there was planned work in progress and don’t retune! Details of planned work is here:

    ok here goes

one cable from wall to aura. No booster box.

checked each of these via manual tune , then SAVE on next screen. Then repeat in this order below.

    41 str 70 qual 100 dvb-t

    44 str 74 qual 100 dvt-t

    29 str 82 qual 58 dvb-t

    37 str 74 qual 100 dvb-t

    31 str 78 qual 60 dvb-t

    47 str 62 qual 100 dvb-t2

    55 str 22 qual 0 dvb-t2

    22 str 92 qual 100 dvb-t

i did notice that ch 106 bbc4hd is not in the guide list anymore

racing tc ch 261 still showing “channel not available” and did a quick sample of the others reported.

The predicted numbers which obviously assumed all the Mux were at full power showed apart from one local mux you only need a low gain log periodic which is a wideband design so when the transmitter returns to full power hopefully you should be sorted.

There is something odd about those numbers which I am afraid I don’t understand. I don’t think it is low signal strength and you definitely don’t need a booster. If you enter your postcode and house number at this link https://www.bbc.co.uk/reception/problems-freeview-reception/#/Freeview it will show which direction your aerial should be pointing (the dotted green line) for the Oxford transmitter. Can you confirm whether your aerial is pointing in that direction?

BBC4HD is supplied by the COM7 multiplex broadcast on UHF channel 55 which is showing 0 quality so not surprising you are not getting anything in the guide. If the aerial is pointing in the correct direction then I would suggest contacting a local aerial fitter for some advice.

Martin hi good morning, well the results are in – I had to wait for daylight .. the current aerial was put up 10 years ago and it is 100 percent guaranteed that it does indeed POINT towards a transmitter called

    SANDY HEATH

Does this mean I now need to start again on the manual tune with a different set of Ch Numbers? etc

Most houses nearby are pointing to sandy Heath direction.

Try a auto tune first. If you put your postcode in again is Sandy Heath not on the list ?

Then try tuning one channel in each mux

Sandy Heath transmitter is 77 miles away, Oxford is 10.

If you tune to that mast you will likely be getting local news from the wrong region.

If there are no major obstacles between you and the Oxford mast, I would be inclined to get the aerial reorientated.

I would talk to an aerial specialist to find out why the aerials are pointing towards Sandy Heath when the prediction is better coverage from Oxford.

Like you imply Martin, there is probably a reason How long has Oxford been there? (not the city)

And the lazy aerial fitter will just align the new aerial with everyone else’s, without checking.

But most of the other houses are pointing in the same direction. There is something odd about the signal strength/quality results which could well be interference; one might hope that a competent person familiar with the area would know the correct solution.

“But most of the other houses are pointing in the same direction.”.

That’s my point Martin, there’s probably aerials still in place from the 50’s or 60’s and far too many “installers” are either lazy or totally lacking in knowledge. So time and time again new aerials get fitted and simply aligned with the majority.
