Bit odd that a “factory reset” doesn’t reset to factory status, no? Not that it’s a bad thing allowing for a system reset that doesn’t delete recorded data. I suppose the HDD is treated like a SD card in a phone which wouldn’t have photos wiped of the phone was reset.
Good to know it should be able to be done without any loss.
Only way to delete existing recordings is a Hard Disk Format. This should not be part of a factory reset unless it’s optional extra like on a FVP unit.
It seems to be happening to Barry. It should not be formatting the hard disk.
A factory reset has never reverted the box to the firmware found when the box was new. It could be months old.
As Aura updates are now controlled by Humax based on unit serial number. A public release should not delete recordings.

A couple of annoying things have appeared today.
1. On my home screen above favourite apps it shows programs for Prime Video, Disney+ and something called Joyn (never heard of it till tonight) and I can’t find anyway of getting rid of them as I don’t want them on there as Prime is the only one I subscribe to, and I can’t find a Joyn app anywhere. I’ve gone to Customise your home screen>choose channels and set everything I want and disabled everything I don’t want but these just won’t go (done the same in settings) – All I want is favourite apps and Nova Video Player.
2. Somethings in Discover are in German for some reason, eg. A film I have on Google Play is The Mummy but’s it’s listed as Die Mumie. At the bottom of Discover there is option to customise recommendations but it only allows me to select/deselect 3 – Prime Video, Disney+ and Joyn, and even when deselected they still appear on both my Home Screen and the Discover Screen.
Any ideas?
I’m guessing your box thinks youre in Germany, as Joyn is a German SVOD service ( owned by discovery).
I’d suggest going into Freeview Play Preferences, and making sure Regional Services is set to UK

Suspect NOVA Video Player is the issue. Try and delete it. Use VLC Player instead. This works really well with the Aura.
VLC for Windows on A PC can also play back LIVE TV and recordings from the Aura. This includes video files stored on USB connected to either rear usb port.
You may need to select the appropriate framerate from the manual options.

It is set to United Kingdom, and Language is English, and my google account is registered on Google Uk.
At the top of the Apps screen, it says under Google Play, Mehr Apps & Spiele, Hol das Beste aus deinem TV – mit neuen apps & Spielen.
I do know enough German to understand it, but it’s still annoying.

Delete the app as suggested, VLC is one of the standard apps offered when you opt to get the additional apps.

I’ve uninstalled Nova Video Player, and now the recommendations are Disney+ and Google even though everywhere I’ve looked I’ve disabled everyting.
I do have VLC installed as well, I use it and Nova Player for playing files off a USB H/D connected to the router and a NAS drive.
I was recording 3 programs tonight which all started at 9pm give it take a minute based on the broadcaster. I was watching program “1” from the recordings menu and a bit behind the live program. Program “1”, “2” & “3” all finished recording and I was still watching “1”. I watched “1” until the end. When I stopped, the program highlighted in the recordings list was not “1” but one of the other programs. It was either “2” or “3”. Can’t recall but I think it was one the program out of the 3 that finished recording last. A bit convoluted situation but looks like there’s something that occurs where it doesn’t highlight the correct program from the recordings list when you exit/stop a program. I guess this should be possible to test again but “not tonight Josephine”.

I’ve noticed this and it also happens if you are watching a pre-existing recording and one or more programmes start recording which then shuffles the list down from the top. When you exit the programme you are watching the one highlighted is different so I’m always very careful when deleting! I think what happens is it returns back to the position in the original recordings list which is then out by the number of additional recording entries added whilst watching.
I probably need to pay more attention to it and do some better analysis, I’ve sort of just lived with it up to now but it does need fixing. I’ll update once I’ve done some more testing.

Yes this is a regular occurrence for me, it happens when I turn on, the picture and sound start as normal for about two seconds then disappear and restart again then all ok. Its happens so often at start-up that I’ve got used to it.

Sounds like Dynamic Refresh Rate Switching, which can be disabled by fixing the HDMI resolution (say to 1080-50p) in Settings > Audio and Video.

As I am an Aura “newbie” can anyone tell me if there is a “cheat-sheet” to cover all the new changes? Or do I have to do the old-trial-and-error method?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

My comments on the DLNA feature is as follows:
1. On my Samsung Q9FN, the thumbnails are loaded, on my Samsung Frame TV v2, there are no thumbnails loaded
2. A recorded programme watched through DLNA which is currently transcoding is treated as a live stream and so cannot be paused or restarted later from a known position. Annoying but better than nothing.
3. Sometimes, if I stop playing a programme and then try to replay it again the stream does not start unless a wait some minutes (probably for the transcode to stop)
On the IOS Aura app:
1. The Aura app leaks downloaded recordings when the recording is deleted. The downloaded transcoding remains in the iPhone storage.
