I have a Humax Aura which seems to constantly restart and its driving me nuts.
Mine used to do it on a regular basis but hadn’t done it for a while, more than a year. Then last week it did it again, just once.
I don’t remember what triggered its change in behaviour before, if anything did, but in your case I’d suggest switching it off and re-powering if you haven’t done that already.

InactiveI get the restarts, which I tolerated, but since last week it’s failing to record a lot of programmes. And that’s still happening after a factory reset. What’s really odd though is that it’s the same with a second one that we also use. Is there yet another firmware glitch?

InactiveHumax say the update that was due in January is an Android OS update, so no, unfortunately the update won’t change the Freeview app currently 1.00_67_250320_ec44a7d27 which is where this particular homescreening issue is that has been caused since April 2024.

I’ve got 6 Humax FVP 4000/5000 boxes, and they were supplied with 1.5A , 2A , 2.5A or 4A power supplies.
Mostly swapped out HDD for a laptop or solid state disk, so power consumption was lowered a bit but the main difference was the peak power needed by the disk was lower and it reduced or cured glitching…
The Aura is much more fragile because it is doing much more multitasking and the hard drive will shut down if demands power that it can’t have, and this shuts down the Android system to reboot.
The thing that tipped my box over the edge and turned glitches into crashes was, I’m convinced, leaving 2 USB 256GB thumb drives plugged in so I could watch already downloaded material.
So I swapped my PSU for the best FVP one which is 4A.
Unfortunately the DC plug is fairly unusual, although you can find converters (I have used them before but they’re not ideal), and if I hadn’t already got a suitable one I would have just chopped the DC lead and put it on a generic 5A 12v adapter, but that’s best done only if you have a multimeter and maybe a soldering iron.
For all I know my solution may be unique to my particular situation, but I appear to be have suffered from all the annoying faults discussed on this forum which were getting more persistent and have now all gone.
I was an electrical engineer and scientist for 40 years, so I appreciate that others may have a different origin for their faults…just saying ..
I noticed that trying to watch iplayer on the aura whilst it was also recording would definitely cause a crash. So i always use iplayer on my Apple TV which works without fault.
When I got my Aura replaced by Richersounds,(via Humax) they gave me back my old power supply, but it all seems to work better. Maybe because of a newer hard drive? No doubt the power supply is underpowered. Could I use the power supply from my old 4000T?
It also seems there are software issues as well.

InactiveI have been following this for some time as I had problem of random reboot, sometimes 2 or 3 times a day, then nothing for nearly a week.
3 weeks ago I replaced the 12v 2A power supply with a 12V 5A one. The new unit had a different connector but was supplied with a connector for power supply to terminals. I cut the original connector off the old original power supply and connected to the terminals. If you have a multimeter check the polarity on the connector before you connect to Aura, outer negative centre positive.
Since I did this I have had no problem, and you can be watching a recording of one program on the TV and a completely different program recording on my Firestick (do not think changing power supply enabled this, but the Aura is working hard to service both, and no problem!)
Power supply from that very well known online website

InactiveThank you for that, Simon
I think it IS time to change the power supply.Aren’t most barrel connectors Negative outside and centre positive? Even if they are, its worth a check.
I didnt realise that the Aura has a different type…..

InactiveIf this actually fixes issue should Humax not issue everyone with an updated power supply which works better than their original supplied one?
It’s very strange that n this seems to fix errors and their initial testing when making the unit didn’t show the unit needed a bit more power at times.
It would be good if we had a link to a specific one that we could buy, and would all know would work.

InactiveIve ordered a similar one to Simon, above which is 5A and the connector for power supply to terminals. Hopefully it should arrive next week and I will update before the forum finally closes down!!
Unfortunately, these days, the manufacturers just seem to supply the cheapest they can get away with,no surplus amperage, rather than what is actually required to do the job.

Is it possible put a link to what you have bought so others can see? Thanks.

InactiveHaving read this I brought a 4A one, reinstalled all the apps I had removed to make mine stable and connected it to the internet and it started rebooting again.
This is just my experience and having a more powerful PSU can’t do any harm and may help some but for me its back to the AppleTV for streaming and Aura for recording.

InactiveThanks Dave480.
I’m thinking the same, that a power supply with more current(Amps) may or may not solve the problems, but cant hurt.Only time will tell.
