Success connecting to the Aura. SD files being transferred to a portable drive, whether they will play on another Humax Aura is something else. Time will tell.

If you upload the files downloaded from one Aura into the folder /Recordings/Upload/ of another Aura it might not be possible to have them appear as “recordings”. According to the folder

“1. Please upload your recording files here to restore them to your receiver

2. Please use other directories (e.g. Movies) for other media files including recording files from other receivers

3. You can share and watch SD recordings from other receivers. But you cannot playback HD recordings from others

However, I’ve noticed that the downloaded file contains the serial number of the Aura that recorded it, so it may not upload correctly – I don’t know.

You can upload the recordings into the “movies” folder and play them using the VLC app. It might be better to strip the rubbish out the files using something like ffmpeg or VideoRedo on your PC, just in case they don’t play properly. (I’ve just tried it and although it plays it seems a little jittery in VLC)

Latest news on this one. DPD finally delivered my new Aura box and took away the old one. Just finished setting it up, the software is a little different but the unit seems to be ok.

I’ll try the recordings on the portable hard drive over the weekend. Thanks to all who had helpful suggestions.
