InactiveBless my soul!
Came on to ask this q and there is a thread at the top of the forum complaining about the regular startup/shutdowns.
I have tried to unpair by resetting the 1000S but without success.
Possibly I did something wrong, but the machine keeps waking up.
Do I have to delete the app from my device as well?
What am I missing?
Alan..

There is an unpair function somewhere – look in the app settings.
Sorry can’t be exact as I don’t see the function as I am not paired.

InactiveVia the box go to Settings – Freesat ID – select user – Unpair.

InactiveMany thanks
Tried to figure this out ages ago, never managed to find the unpair option.
Still no evidence it has resolved it but am hopeful!

You can also unpair via the freesat site – via your login. Follow the app link. From someone else’s comment it may wake up one last time.

Unpairing from the freest site or app has no affect on the box. As long as the freesat ID has been disabled at the box it shouldn’t spin up while in standby other than for recording.

InactiveIt’s rather misleading then.
Thinking about it, I would guess that it does actually does do something at freesat’s end, i.e. disables the possibility of setting a recording. In which case the unit would wake up and check for a recording that it would never find.
Not a very good design by freesat, a not paired error retuned to the STB should unpair it on the STB.

Not a very good design by freesat,
Just add it to the list of some of the other not very good designed functions by freesat

Boot to Home Menu,
Gradient shadows,
Multiple key presses for the simplest of tasks,
Non freesat mode

InactiveYes, I can confirm this is an annoying bug. Unpair Freesat id just doesn’t work.
I tried everything but a factory reset, which I’m just not prepared to do atm.
I even tried deleting my Freesat id on the website, which I don’t recommend as it means there’s no way to reactivate a Freesat id with the same email address.
It’s annoying because we have the box in our bedroom (while builders are downstairs), and… well, just try sleeping in a room with that box whizzing away all the time. I pull the plug every night, which means I can’t record stuff.

I agree it’s not well implemented, but unpairing the box does work. (Not on the website or the app but on the box, in Settings, Freesat ID, as per Gonzo’s post above)
I unpaired soon after pairing, and the midnight shenanigans went away.

InactiveYep unpairing via the box should be all that’s needed.
Every now and then I pair up again if I’m due to be away from home then when I get back I just unpair again and haven’t suffered any random booting up in between times.
Not sure what the thought behind removing the Freesat ID from the Freesast site was because it’s the box that instigates the communications with the Freesat ID server and not the other way around.

InactiveI did indeed do the unpairing via the box, didn’t work for me.

InactiveWhat happened when you chose Unpair? Did you get an error message?
December 19, 2014 at 8:32 am #57947Anonymous
InactiveSelected my id, unpair id, clicked ok to Yes, Unpair. Nothing happened, id is still listed on the screen and is still paired. I tried that many times, rebooted, tried again. Nothing.
Then I went to the freest id website and ended up deleting the id there in the vain hope the box might respond to this, but of course it didn’t. To top it off I can’t resurrect this deleted id because the email address is already in use! Cluster of bugs around Freesat ids, be nice if unpairing worked, and there was a way to reactivate your id! I doubt these will be fixed. I’m not doing a factory reset.
