InactiveApologies if this has been asked before. At some point I reserved 50gb on the HDR harddisk for music files. However, I no longer use this now but cannot find a way how to delete the separate partition again and join it with the partition for TV recordings. Resetting to factory condition does not work.
Thanks for any suggestion.

InactiveSorry to tell you this but there is no way except by reformatting the whole disk (except perhaps by removing the disk and using a good partition utility – can anyone suggest one?).

InactiveThanks Repassac. I am not bothered about loosing existing recordings and I tried reformatting the disk but the extra partition remained. Am I missing something?

InactiveI replaced my Foxsat with a HDR-1000S so I can’t check but somewhere near or within the format menu there is a way of changing the partition size (which you must of found before), This also starts a format. – I seem to recall a slider control.
If you locate it post a response otherwise I am sure Graham or someone else will be along soon with precise instructions.
Edit: You cannot fully remove the partition but you can reduce it to very very small.

InactiveThanks. I will give it a go at the weekend.

ModeratorConfused – I am

I assume the discussion relates to a Foxsat HDR – in which case I’ll move this to correct area when confirmed by OP.
If Foxsat then the following should reset:
Menu
System
HDD Control
Format HDD – OK
Select both options – OK
Confirm action
Password – default is 0000
Move slider to required size(s) – OK

Minimum size of Music/Jpeg partition is 1GB on a Foxsat-hdr.
Not aware of any way to change the partition size available to a user on a freetime box (unlike the Foxsat you can also upload movie files to this area.

InactiveAssumed it was a Foxsat as soon as I saw “Music Partition” but missed the thread title.

ModeratorAs Graham not aware of anyway to change partition sizes on freetime box, but did not address that, just wanted OP to confirm Foxsat….. will move anyway.
Edit later: Moved back to 1000S section as OP confirms that is the unit he is querying.

InactiveSorry, you guys are just too fast. My question related to the HDR-1000. Sorry, was not able to clarify this before.

InactiveThe partition on the HDR-1000S is a partition reserved for all user files not just music – it is on an unencrypted partition.
No way I have seen to change it’s size, within the HDR-1000S anyway.

InactiveThanks for clarifying this although perhaps that should be mentioned before someone makes use of that option.

Which option ? I don’t know of anything in the menus that offers that option.

InactiveGraham – I must have been able to split a partition off somehow for media files from the HDR’s menu – not being in front of the machine I cannot remember how I managed to do this. What I meant was that if you cannot reverse this why provide the option in the menu? Anyway, my Hd capacity now seems to be permanently reduced to about 200gb instead of the original 250gb.
Thanks
Martin

Pretty sure there’s no such option anywhere on my HDR1000S, which incidentally has a 2TB hard drive. If you can find the option please post how you managed this.
I guess it’s possible you may have found another hidden (secret) menu that no one else has yet found.
