I would guess all this has something to do with BBC iPlayer now requiring confirmation that we have a TV License. Its all very well them Tweeting about things, but not all of us are on Twitter. I have just replied to their email asking if they could at least issue an email to their registered users to warn of like disruption such as this. If they can Tweet they can email just as easily!
At a loss as to why the BBC requesting a confirmation as to whether you have a licence when using iplayer has anything to do with the Freesat current problems.
The box reboots (or shuts down) when using live TV or watching a recording.

The changes will be at their end. It’s not the box software that’s the issue.
So are they doing it by trial-and-error:(?

No idea they don’t release that kind of information. If new software for the boxes was involved that would be down to Humax and Freesat.

InactiveI emailed Freesat about 11 am, expressing dismay in a nice way etc. and got a reply half an hour ago. Basically the same as Tafwys. ‘Temporary inconvenience and will be resolved shortly.’ Shortly doesn’t mean today then if Tafwys is still rebooting.

InactiveTotal of 3 reboots yesterday and again at 2:43pm today.
Whatever they are doing I wish they would hurry up and get it done – this is getting really annoying….

InactiveI presume that they are moving services between their servers and re-balancing load. Freetime units contact these servers during boot and then periodically.

Kinda familiar for Freesat

Mine’s been doing the same for about 4 days now. Two to three times a day.

“We are very sorry for the inconvenience caused during these essential work.”

InactiveI just signed up and have to admit I’m a bit relieved to read this post.
I took delivery of a 1100s yesterday. Set it up and it rebooted three times within a few hours. Then again last night. No freezing or anything just turns itself off then back on.
It also did it again this afternoon whilst I was watching iPlayer. I have done a factory reset then googled and found this thread.
I thought I’d got a faulty box so hopefully that’s not the case and the issue will right itself.
Not the best introduction to freesat. This brand new box had rebooted more in 24 hours than my sky box has in 15 years. But I am glad to be free of the sky sub costs!

When it does work it works very well indeed. This is a most unusual occurrence. I doubt you will miss Sky after a couple of weeks. I certainly didn’t when I ditched them a few years back.

I’m happy so far to be honest. I especially like the free time scroll back. I’ve also grabbed a nowtv box as I love all the old comedies on Gold.
I was just relieved to see that it’s probably not a faulty box.
I few months back I noticed everything set to record in my planner was on free channels and just thought what am I paying sky for? So ditched it soon as I could.

That was exactly our situation. We were paying Sky goodness knows how much including multi-room and yet 95% our viewing was from the big five terrestrial channels. They reckon this scenario applies to a heck of a lot of Sky subscribers who often can’t be bothered to do anything about it.

InactiveTo Jerri, like you it was by chance that I found this site and to be honest it is a breathe of freash air. Brilliant in other words. What is impressive, how certain members are helpful for someone like me, not technically gifted. I had a Humax Foxast HD for about four years and would have kept that except for the situation with BBC IPlayer. I wish they would get their act together regarding these reboots. A pain. I think you will enjoy Freesat and the beauty is you can get a load of non Freesat channels. I have tuned into Ulster TV and certain others.
