While watching a live broadcast I go into Recordings, select a recording and Watch Now or Resume. Press Back repeatedly until you get back to the live broadcast. Problem is I get a blank, black screen with no sound. Only way to clear this is to change channels.
Not good, do these guys ever test a release?
A somewhat less belligerent attitude may help…
Try it yourself mate. In fact on reflection I wonder who the hell you think you are to lecture posters on this forum about the content and flavour of their posts.
I did and cannot reproduce it as I posted. Can anyone else ?
Yes both from recordings and iPlayer (see my previous post).
That’s 2 then. Only thing I can think of is we have some different settings.

InactiveI’m just using the default settings (I just did a factory reset to be sure). CM23 postcode. Hard wired ethernet to VDSL at 60MB/18MB. HDMI connection to Panasonic HiDef panel (not a TV).

InactiveI had a blank screen no sound issue last night after I finished playing back a recording.
Pressing Exit then brought back the live broadcast.
The only things that I don’t have default set is 1080p, Anamorphic, turning off the Auto Shutdown and hiding the Adult section.

Tell me exactly what to press starting from which channel to reproduce the issue.

Make that at least 3 now having this problem and that’s only from regular users on this forum reporting it within a few hours of the update. Extropolate that to many that will now have the same problem regardless of whatever recording they were watching ( I was using it to get back from “settings”). Stop living in denial. There are definitely new serious bugs with this update….

InactiveIt’s typical isn’t it. I’ve spent the last 10 minutes doing what I did earlier to try to reproduce the issue and now it isn’t happening! I’ll keep an eye on it and see if it happens again and the possible route to reproduce.

Nobodys living in denial. if the problem can’t be reproduced how do you expect it to be fixed.
I have tried repeatedly to re-produce I cannot. I have asked for settings and exact keystrokes to try and re-produce. What else do you expect, if it doesn’t happen to me am I suppose to say it does ?
Basically shouting about but not co-operating in trying to found out how/why isn’t helping, all you are doing is annoying anyone trying to help.

Thanks some commonsense and a practical post at last

This type of problem can be an absolute nightmare to find.

InactiveAll, unless we can find a consistent way to reproduce this every time it is pretty difficult to start attempting to fix this issue. I have seen it, but I can’t reproduce it now.
These types of bugs are nasty. I spend pretty much every day of my working life sorting out bugs like this (not for Humax btw) – clear, consistent steps to reproduce are invaluable, otherwise it’s like looking for a needle in a haystack.

InactiveI’ve just, again, reproduced the black screen on ITV2…
Settings are default from Factory Reset, except set to 1080P and Digital Sound to Stereo.
Watching live TV on ITV2. Into Recordings, select a recording and either Resume or Watch From Start. Watch recording for around 30 secs then repeatedly press BACK to return to live TV. As soon as you leave the actual recording and into the Recordings display the PIP is black and this persists when you return to live TV. In live TV with black screen, no audio, press EXIT and picture returns. Equally when using EXIT to return from the recording to live TV the problem does not occur. Not on all channels but when it does occur on a channel it is constantly repeatable.
EDIT: I’ve played around with a variety of picture/sound settings but the problem seems to be independent of these. Put together with my earlier report of the picture display frequently spilling over the edge of the TV screen, so for example the bottom of the EPG disappears, then this could maybe be an HDMI change.

Total agreement with Graham – have spent the best part of last night and this morning trying to replicate blank screen issue using the back key and now given up as I cannot, but then again I use the common sense approach and press stop after viewing a recording.

That sounds very similar to when I had the problem. However I’ve just tried that a few times now and all is okay on my box.

ParticipantReproduced – kind off (I didn’t change the audio). I didn’t get any problems until I got back to live TV where Exit restored the picture and sound.
Exit twice worked fine from the recording so hardly a major issue.
Tried again using the back key and this time no issues, so it’s not 100% repeatable either.

InactiveOk, agree with Graham. I just managed to get it on BBC2 (102), menu, OnDemand, iPlayer, I choose last nights Stargazing Live (non-HD). Watched about 20 seconds of it. Then pressed the back button and then exit. Black screen. Channel up/down to get back to normal TV.
I tried it again and it didn’t happen.
