Does anyone know if Freesat are aware of or working on this problem?
There’s now a banner at the top of the Freesat homepage.
“As of 3PM, February 15, 2022, the technical team at Freesat has implemented a fix that should prevent any further instances of this problem.
“If you require any further assistance, please do get in touch. Thank you all for your patience and again, we’re really sorry for the disruption this has caused.”

InactiveSet BBC Breakfast to record this morning at 6am with my recording padding set back in “Auto”. Seemed to work ok…

InactiveGood news – I will also check. Odd that FREESAT haven’t updated the notice on their Service Updates page yet FREESAT SERVICE UPDATES? I assume the SONTEE post above is a response to a specific service email? Maybe they are just waiting to see it’s working properly…?

InactiveAdding one minute at start and end solved the problem yesterday. Will now revert to “Auto” and see if Freesat have fixed it. From TimK and Gothamite’s comments it sounds promising.

InactiveI switched padding back to auto and set up a couple of short recordings, both of which worked ok.

InactiveAll my scheduled recordings have successfully started and stopped. I am a little suspicious they are all on the minute they were scheduled to start/stop. I would like to see one or two that don’t start/stop bang on time which then indicates the ‘AR’ data is being broadcast correctly and not just to the scheduled time.

When I recorded Sliders from The Horror Channel this morning the playback ended just as the end credits were beginning. I didn’t mention this earlier as this happens a lot on this particular channel…

InactiveThe BBC News at One followed by Look North was still showing the news and weather at the beginning of Look North recording. I have reverted to padded recording for the moment.
I will trial some more ‘AR’ recordings of non-news type programs at the weekend.

My recording schedule for last night:
Lewis (ITV3) 20:00 – 22:00 Recorded: 19:55 – 22:00
Foyle’s War (ITV3) 22:00 – 00:00 Recorded: 22:00 – 00:05
Taggart (Drama) 23:20 – 02:25 Recorded: 23:15 – 02:30
Consecutive recordings on the same channel will pad at the beginning and end of the whole session.
I’m not sure that this is always the case. I’d set series record for the 2 episodes of Classic Coronation Street on ITV3 on Tuesday afternoon, with 5 minutes padding at each end set. The first episode overran and included a few minutes of the 2nd episode. The 2nd episode was missing precisely these few minutes. So it looks as though the padding was applied to both ends of the first episode.
