Ahh yes. The “re format HDD and lose your recordings”. That happened to me too a month or so back with all of our Christmas TV recordings. I swore I would give it one more chance on the basis that Humax was stilling ironing out its problems with the 1000s. Two strikes and its back to John Lewis though …

OK, one final thought, and also picking up on Pollensa’s final comments –

Although it seems like a retrograde step, in order to partly achieve my end goal, maybe I could put the 1000s in the kitchen for general live TV and recording “his” programmes. And put a Foxsat HDR in the lounge for live TV and recording general TV programmes. If the Foxsat HDR can be tweaked to act as a DNLA server, and the 1000s already acts as a DNLA client, I could at least send TV recordings from the lounge into the kitchen.

That should work shouldn’t it, or should I put greater weight on Pollensa’s warnings?

BTW Pollensa, I already own the 1000s; its a question of what else I buy which might interact with it. One day.

    That would work. :-)

For that combination I think the custom firmware with the earlier version of Twonky server would fit well. The later version needs a License.
