    Just think of the money you are saving compared to say a Sky-HD box during the 2-30 seconds it takes to boot. A Sky-HD box uses around 60 times the amount of power compared to a G2 box when it’s in sby and not actually recording anything.

    Not to mention the money we’re saving by not having a landline…

    That is my understanding, which is why it uses so much power on what they laughingly call standby.

    Another is a very long EPG filled with channels you have not subscribed to and wish were not there.

    We had Sky for a while, 15 years ago, when we first moved to a signal blackspot. I seem to remember having a favourites list and just using that. Have they changed it?

    It is at least a decade since I had a Sky unit so don’t know what they do now.
