Thanks Barry, poster in another place wanted to use the box to stream to a HD FOX T2, clearly not the box for him.

    Q. Guide population.

    a. On initial set up when entering Guide PIG will suspend whilst it receives guide data, note this can take some time, but it should only be a one off, unless of course you factory reset.

Once all guide data is retrieved it is stored on board and updated from which ever transponder you happen to be watching, and/or overnight.

Note: If recording and guide is entered – N/N should be available for all channels immediately but it takes some time for the unit to retrieve data and populate all of the guide.

    Q. Is there delete confirmation.

    A. Yes for series record timers, ie where you have more then one episode of a programme stored in series folder.

    Q. Is it possible to record one channel and watch another.

    A. Presently only if the second channel is on the same transponder as the first.

You can of pause/rewind the second channel, and once the first has finished recording you can then record the second including any content that was buffered.

Edit: post #1 has been updated to include more HDD I have tried.

    Connecting a HDD for recording:

    If HDD is initially fat32:

Via settings, system settings, storage you have the option to assign HDD, what actually happens is the unit reformats to ntfs, you then have to disconnect and reconnect for it to be recognised again and can then assign to record.

If HDD is initially ext 3:

    Same scenario as if fat32.

    If HDD is initially ntfs:

You only have to assign it for recording purposes.

Interesting. Here on Join Freesat they seem confused…

    http://www.joinfreesat.co.uk/review-humax-hb-1000s-freesat-hd-receiver/

I see this quote… “It is worth noting that due to broadcasting copyright restrictions, the USB hard drive will need to be formatted by the receiver to either FAT32 or EXT3″

There is at least one more error, eg post #7 in this FAQ is the correct info re record and watch.

    Then explain this…

    http://community.freesat.co.uk/t5/The-Freesat-Lounge/Unusual-recording-behaviour/m-p/12300#U12300

If the live broadcast of the 2nd that you paused/rewound has finished then you cannot record the 2nd.

I’ve read that a few times now, and it makes little sense to me.

Don’t want to clutter up this HB 1000S FAQ thread with other stuff reported in places I have no intention of joining or supporting.

Edit next day: Having had time to digest a little more my scenario as per the FAQ is slightly different in that I was recording one but watching/pausing/rewinding another channel to demonstrate it is possible to record 2 channels in certain circumstances and that is still correct.

Are you meaning JF? I have no idea why you have such a problem Barry? I am constantly allowing links and mentions of your site as it ultimately supports the Humax product; I don’t see why you are so negative in reply when JF has a significant fan base in comparison and a huge advertisement for both Humax and Freesat!

I will have a look at the formatting issue again, but my box certainly didn’t like the NTFS format of my USB HDD and only when switching to FAT32 did it recognise. Presumably you have tried this too? Did you even get a box to test as I can’t see your review?

PS – I made no mention of recording one channel whilst watching another etc, so not sure where that quote has come from?

Over on JF they are saying, again, that connecting a NTFS drive does not work. When changed to FAT32 it did work. So, Barry, is your guidance on this true, or is theirs?
