ParticipantThere are no regional BBC HD variants as yet. I agree it really is a pain to be forced to change channels. Better to have broadcast the national news in HD to everyone, and allow viewers to switch to regional SD broadcasts if they so wished. Instead we have to suffer that extremely annoying rotating red thing with the terrible sound track. I’d rather watch one of the old black and white “interlude” broadcasts. Anyone remember the spinning optical illusion, potter’s wheel, or London to Brighton in two minutes ?

The main reason for the post, on the wrong board for which I apologize was to bring the issue to your attention.
Samba and also AFP compatibility appears to be an ongoing and frankly annoying issue between vendors,
it seems we have to revert to the stoneage and use ftp (or perhaps kermit!!!).
Please keep up the good work, and btw av2hdr v 1.4 still works on Yosemite, though slow in activation, what it written in?
Thanks again
Aimee
I am aware of the Apple MAC/Samba compatability issue with later MAC OS’s, but that is purely down to Apple, not me. There is not a thing I can do about it.
The version of Samba running on the Foxsat is 2.2.12. That is the last of the version 2 series. After that Samba became bloatware with a massive increase in source code size, and it was found impossible to compile it with the uclibc libs used on the Foxsat’s mips platform.
AV2HDR is a Windows .NET framework application written using Visual C#. It only runs on a MAC because the MAC uses MONO with Winform libs in order to run .NET applications.

ParticipantI don’t own a MAC but you can try this solution, which has been known to work with earlier versions of OSX.

ParticipantRegarding your aversion to LCD backlit TV’s. Were you aware that the LCD backlighting can be adjusted down to a level where you don’t get the glare you dislike so much ?

Only problem I now have is that I have lost the ability to remove the HD encoding.
I had the extra script file installed but seem to have been overwritten during a reinstallation. I wonder if anyone has it available.
Thanks
Sorry, The discussion of encryption removal is not allowed on this forum. Check your PM’s.

Ran WebIf and trimmed channels not wanted but left Wales BBC1 SD and HD, Same error shows up when saving the configuration from Webif…
Try trimming just a few channels at a time in small blocks, or even one at a time at first, to try and locate which channel(s) is generating the error.

..but Checked recordings and BBC1 Wales SD is wrong !! BBC1 Wales HD is ok .
Your not making yourself very clear. Checked recordings where, and how? And what exactly is wrong with the BBC1 Wales SD recording ?

ParticipantTo start again with a clean slate just open a telnet session to your HDR and enter this command :
rm /opt/etc/.DO_NOT_DELETE_THIS_FILE
(note the dot included in the filename)
then reboot the box.
This will reset your custom firmware environment back to the point as if you had just flashed the custom firmware. You can then re-install the full web interface and apps again from scratch.
raydon
ParticipantLoooks like you have some corruption in the webif. I would suggest you first run “fix-disk” from telnet to check/repair any hard disk errors (do it in the morning so you don’t interfere with scheduled recordings) followed by a full re-initialise and re-install of the web interface.

ParticipantCould also be a lock on an individual channel as this is easy to accidentally enable via the Opt+ button, but requires pasword (0000 default) to remove it. Is there only one, or certain channels affected ? If so, enter the password to view the affected channel then hit the Opt+ button. This will bring up a menu which includes the option to disable the lock. On selecting disable you will be prompted for the password again before the lock is removed.

I have downloaded the firmware Humax v1.00.21 but not certain what is does or weather it will help. Can you advise me please?
Help to do what exactly ? Can you please state what it is you wish to achieve using a USB stick on your Foxsat HD. Other than updating firmware the USB port has no other purpose. Firmware v1.00.21 is for the Foxsat HDR, not the Foxsat HD. The latest firmware for the Foxsat HD is v1.00.28 and is available for download from HERE. You should check the version you have installed via the Humax’s own menu, If it’s already on v1.00.28 there is nothing else you can do.

I’ve installed Raydon’s excellent software but now when I press the Option+ button on the remote to copy files from a USB stick the resulting window does not show File Manager. The HDR does indicate that a USB device has been connected. How do I copy files to the HDR from a USB stick now? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
The custom firmware does not change the Foxsat’s own graphical user interface in any way. Access to the file manager remains the same as it always was. Pressing the Media button, followed by Opt+ will present a ‘Settings’ popup window, the first option of which is the File Manager.

ParticipantDrivers are built into the boxes firmware. Disk is only provided so you can use the dongle elsewhere if you wish. If this box is the same as earlier models then WiFi settings will remain disabled if there is a network cable plugged into the Ethernet port. Do you have it connected via wired network at present?

ParticipantWhat do you see on the TV screen ?

ParticipantExtremely slooooow for me. Took 55 seconds just for home page to appear.
