However there might be a way to get the HDR-FOX-T2 to record from your cable setup (assuming this has HDMI out).

It’s not cheap but might work for you.

    https://www.amazon.co.uk/Edision-HDMI-Modulator-Full-Distribution-Black/dp/B00KBXKJ2A

This requires a HDMI splitter and produces a single DVB-T Full-HD channel using the UHF channel of your choice. The HDR-FOX-T2 should be able to manually tune this single channel Mux and therefore record it using manually set timers. If you try it make sure you buy from someone like Amazon so you can return it if it fails to work. Perhaps a member here might have tried something like this. As it not’s a Freeview generated channel it should be free of the copy restrictions and the encryption enforced by the Freesat epg. This would mean you should be able to view these recordings on a home network on anything with a DLNA client.

Just to add to Graham’s point, I’ve tried one of these HDMI modulators with my HDR-T2 and both a Virgin cable box and a Fire TV. Whilst it works in that it records the output on the created DVB-T2 channel, the file size is much greater than on a Broadcast channel so some extra processing may be necessary to manage hard disk space.

Edit: this is the one I tried https://www.amazon.co.uk/Technomate-TM-RF-HD-HDMI-Modulator-Black/dp/B01HOZKVFW/ref=pd_sim_23_4?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=TH8CCX9E79WCQ4Q2EQKK which is slightly cheaper than the one Graham linked to, and I notice there is now a newer version.

Regarding BB reliability though – I have to say I have found BT to be very reliable indeed (touch wood). 😯

I must say my OH has the opposite experience with BT. They put her on a fibre connection after a complaint to CEO, but it’s back in the exchange still, so no better than ADSL, constantly drops altogether and speed is atrocious. Catchup frequently buffers or is unusable at all. If she needs to download anything like a MacOS update she has to come and use my Virgin connection.

But then she is in a rural area without the option of cable and miles from the exchange.

Back to the topic though, these discs could be really useful for offline storage.

If you want to get the files off the 9200t all the software is available from the FAQs (link).

Media elinker is the Humax software but is slow. Better to attach the drive to the PC and use humaxrw (with the GUI if the command line would challenge you) and copy the recordings to your PC or an external drive. You only need the .ts files so you can select that otion within humaxrwGUI. They will be playable by VLC or similar on the PC or is using an external drive then should be playable by the 4000T.

I’ve redone the FAQ post and the file should be available now.

Channel 54 is in the 700 MHz range which is being switched off for the coming 5G cellular signals. It may be that channel 30 is out of band for your aerial eg if you have a C/D band aerial.

Media controller was always flaky and slow which is why humaxrw (and hummyreadfiles)was written.

You need to be running humaxrw as administrator if you are using Windows 7 or later. To get the administrator command prompt you press start, type cmd and right click the cmd.exe that shows and select “Run as Administrator”

There is a graphical front end written by Astronomy over on hummy.tv but the original link I have for it is broken. It should auto select the correct drive for you.

One other point – I hope you did not allow windows to initialise the drive

The 2007 one was probably the 9200t and as far as I remember Elinker used the USB port, the RS232 port was reserved for software updates.

Don’t use a harmony myself (have OFA Xsight) but a good resource for remote codes is hifi-remote forums or you could check out Remote Central

I’m only familiar with programming the OFA remotes though.

My OH has just received a Hub 6 to replace a Hub 3 So I guess that’s the latest.

I don’t know what it is about BT hubs but they seem to cause more problems than other makes in sustaining a connection.

There aren’t any forces pushing a satellite into outer space, so there can be no balance between those forces and earths gravity. Once a satellite is in its desired orbit there is only one force acting on it and that is gravity.

Satellite are just projectiles, slightly more complex than throwing a rock but the physics are the same.

If there was only one force acting on a satellite and that was gravity it would very soon come back to earth.

It needs a counter force to keep it from falling.

Unfortunately due to the broadcasters not setting the correct id for the film. Best practice is to mark the first part and extend the end time past the end of the film.
