A couple of things occur to me.
1) The ‘software update’ updates the firmware stored in non-volatile memory not on the hard drive and if interupted can cause the unit to fail to boot at all.
In my view that could only happen if updating the loader (which has to be via a serial line).
Good point – I was forgetting it was an OTA update.

2) If the hard drive has just been corrupted then removing it and formatting it in a PC should enable it’s (re)use after reformatting in the PVR.
Some interupted firmware updates can be corrected by repeating the update via serial cable as long as the loader was not corrupted.

ParticipantThe SATA mods were originally on the foxsat machines and as yet are still on the old wiki pages here (link) due to be moved to the wiki here soon.

ParticipantOr the newer One for All X-sight lite can be had for a similar price, but controls 6 devices/activities and similar USB setup.

ParticipantSince your planning on using a SATA drive you could possibly use the SATA cable method employed on the Foxsat HDR with a USB-SATA adapter (some USB-HDD adapters have both) unless your IDE-SATA is drive mounted.
Either way let us know how you get on.

ParticipantWelcome to the forum

When you use humaxrw in recovery mode it only save the video file not the other 3 files epg, elu and the important hre. When ts2hrw recreates the hre file it tries to read the PID information from the file but if unable to do so uses dummy information.
This may be why you are seeing the radio programmes in the video list. When used in regular mode humaxrw downloads the extra files along with the .ts file and restoring the .ts file to the drive automatically restores those files as well so radio programmes will be restored to the audio list.
As for your second query the hre file structure is shown here (link) so if you downloaded a radio recording to your PC and one of the previously recovered radio recordings you could use a hex editor to compare the hre files (maybe also an hre from a video file too) to see whether you could spot the difference – perhaps in the PID for video.
Note: it would be advisable to have a backup of any files you wished to keep from the 9200t before attempting to restore any modified files. You would just need to upload the .ts file to test as the hre is uploaded with it.
Edit: just re-read your post and see you are thinking of a bigger drive in which case your original would serve as a backup. Be aware that ACE (ATA Consumer Electronics) drives are hard to find now and you may need to usa a SCE (SATA Consumer Electronics) drive with an adapter. Other members may be able to suggest alternatives.
Let us know how you get on

ParticipantNote that you can get drives which are USB powered that have a ‘y’ lead with 2 USB connectors on so that you can uas an alternate power source such as a USB phone charger, other drives have a small (3.5mm?) power socket in addition to the USB connector for external 5V input. Seagate IIRC do one of the latter types.

Never had a stick with “two” drives, it is a Maxell. I don’t really want to use the stick, but I have to play with things to see how they work.
Cheers
Norm
Dual partition sticks normally have an encryption program on one of the partitiions (often on a virtual CD drive)that is supposed to autorun when inserted to allow you to access files which are on the other (encrypted) partition. There is normally a program included or downloadable to remove the partitions and make the whole drive available. Once done you may be able to format it to EXT3 using a Linux live distro such as the one on the blog here (link) but even if the HDR sees it you may not have enough room for anything but a short SD recording.
You can also use the live Linux CD to preformat an external HDD before connecting to the HDR.

ParticipantYou won’t lose any programmes already recorded but it will reset any scheduled future recordings/series links along with any favourites, so make a note beforehand.

ParticipantGraham I think you misread the town – perhaps you were thinking of someone in Guildford. 😉
For Gillingham, Kent
Manually tune the following channels for Bluebell Hill
24 27 45 42 39 59
Note you will need a wideband aerial to receive the Muxes on Ch’s 24 and 27 as they are outside the band E for your analogue channels. note that these will change at DSO.
As Crystal palace is only 27 miles you may be able to tune in those channels on the numbers Graham gave above if your aerial is pointing in that direction and high enough gain.
edi: I’m guessing that your Anglian signals come from the Rouncefall transmitter which is virtually 180 degrees from the direction to Bluebell Hill though it is only carrying three Muxes on ch’s 41 44 47 and is at higher power than Bluebell Hill at the moment.

ParticipantHi
I’m sorry but I don’t have the answer for you, as I don’t have a Humax HD box, only 9200t and HD cable PVRs. However could you confirm that your remote uses 4 digit codes and that you have tried the ones for Humax in the manual (link to manual in the post linked here) (you need to be logged in to view or download)
There may not be a code in the remotes memory as that would effectively be 2 PVRs which on most pre-programmable remotes would require reprogramming one of the device keys to a different device type prior to inputting the code. You would need a fully programmable universal remote for that such as the One For All Xsight or Logitech Harmony range, or a learning remote.
Of course ISTBC

ParticipantI definitely used to see this on some of the files on the 9200t though don’t recall now whether it was just files transferred via e-linker or whether hummyreadfiles and humaxrw strip it out.
It was always prepended to the programme name but never found the relevance of it.

ParticipantHi and welcome to the forum.
There are several ways of answering your query depending on your confidence. For the simplest but slowest see the refernces to Elinker or Media Controller on these wiki pages (link) files available from here (link),
If you are feeling more adventurous then you can modify the 9200t following the instructions here (link) NB please ignore any reference to hummy.org.uk as this no longer exists. (This information is due to be moved to this site.) Files available from the same link above.
Bear in mind that any alteration is entirely at your own risk.
You cannot transfer directly to an external hard drive but only through a PC.

ParticipantI have to back Martin up here – the 9300 filesystem is not linux based but similar yet not the same as the 9200t. humaxrw was modified to be able to read from the drive with a suitable (SATA) connection whether USB-SATA or eSATA or direct. (eg the USB-IDE adapter I used in my 9200t also has a SATA connector which would be usable with a 9300t drive – it also has a molex to SATA power adapter).
Any references to HDR mean either the Foxsat or Fox T2 HD systems which the 9300t predates.
The link mod referred to should still work using humaxrw to read the drive, but NB you should not let Windows attempt to ‘initialise’ the drive
You can use a linux live CD if you want but only if humaxrw was included which you would have to add yourself.

Corrections gratefully received (perhaps this could become a FAQ) and I acknowledge the prior work of Biggles on manual tuning the 9200/9300.
