Thanks, aldaweb but, as I mentioned in my first post, the locations of the 9300T and the computer are nowhere near each other.
From what you say it seems the ONLY way to achieve what I want – without transferring to the DVDR first – is to connect the 9300T to a PC.
No can do. It’s too impractical.
I’m looking for a solution that doesn’t involve a PC but I guess there isn’t one.
The idea of using the eSATA mod is that the drive can be external and therefore more easily transportable to the PC than the 9300.
Otherwise you are stuck with recording to a standalone DVD or HDD/DVD recorder.

ParticipantAs far as I am aware, it doesn’t matter what filesystem you format within Windows so long as as the drive is checked during format, ie not a quick format. The 9200t will offer to format the drive when you put it back which of course you should let it.
As long as the drive is checked under windows you should not have to use humaxcheck, which is there more to correct errors with the humax filesystem.

Participanttake a look at the FAQ item here (link).
The second part relates to using humaxcheck on a failing filesystem but from your posts it sounds more like a failing clock circuit as the machine does come out of standby and displays the time for a few hours before going to —- when in standby.
There are 2 scenarios where 4 dashes are on the display. On the left is a sypmtom of the stuck in standby, on the right is symptomatic of a faulty clock.

ParticipantHi and welcome to the forum

You are correct about the USB port not being available for file transfers.
In order to transfer recordings from the 9300t you will need to either remove the drive and connect direct to the PC (do not let the PC ‘initialise’ the drive) then transfer the files off using humaxrw available from the download section here (link) (it’s about half-way down the page).
Alternatively you could do the eSATA cable mod (same as Foxsat mod here (link)) and when you want to transfer files you would need to disconnect from the 9300t and connect to an eSATA port on the PC (this may need to be added but is just a case of plugging a SATA to eSATA cable into a free SATA port on the motherboard.) Then use humaxrw as above. Again (do not let the PC ‘initialise’ the drive)
Once on the PC there are a variety of (free and commercial) DVD authoring programmes that can read the .ts files and burn to DVD. Personally I use VideoRedo TVSuite as it has frame level editing.

ParticipantGood news

Thanks for updating us.

Participanthummyreadfiles has a problem with greater than 256 files but I would have expected to see some (most) files listed unless there is some drive corruption.
Try humaxrw from the download pages (link) and if you’re not comfortable with the command line there’s a GUI front end linked to in Martin’s post here (link)
If you still get no listing then you will need to use humaxrw in recovery mode (command line only – at least at present)

ParticipantOK enough about MAC addresses now. (I’m resisting the urge to challenge the fixed nature of them
). Unless your using an access list by MAC address it’s not relevant. The HDR isn’t connecting direct, it’s through the router.I suggest LokiUK may be better off with homeplugs if his router has incompatibilities.

ParticipantI’m using an OFA XSight lite which I picked up from Currys for under £20.
Like the harmony remotes it has a screen and is programmed via a web page. When there are not enough buttons for all the functions then the extra functions are programmed in and accessible from the LCD screen via up/down arrows and select/back keys. There are touch screen versions available but more expensive than the lower end Harmony remotes.

As Barry says the ‘live view’ of a digital camera (you dont need to take a picture) when pointed at a Remote control’s Infra-Red LED will show it glowing when a button is pushed on the reomte.
The Camera on a mobile phone can be used as well, as could a webcam on a PC or Laptop.

AFAIK (Glossary of Common Abbreviations and Acronyms) only ESPN is available now through the CAM/card. CAMs and cards should be available at TV or satellite shops eg http://www.turbosat.com/categories/CAM%27s/ESPN-Cam-/
A google of “ESPN CAM” should bring up more suppliers.
Top-up TV used to be available using a CAM/card but they now require their own hardware to be used.
Fitting is easy – the card slides into the CAM and the CAM just needs to pushed into the slot fully – that’s it!

ParticipantPicked up a 1TB USB3.0 Passport drive for £69 about four months or so back at a PC World. Now £75 and out of stock – expect that to rise! Smaller than the older USB2.0 drives of which I also have a few. Good for keeping ts files on to play when on call at work.
They seem to have a Toshiba 750GB though for £75 which is cheaper per GB than the 500GB ones

Seannkim : To clear up a few points, MAC address are permanently assigned to a piece of hardware they are not assigned by your router
Whilst MAC addresses are not assigned by a router they can be altered in firmware so are not strictly permanent. Whether this applies to the HDR or not I don’t know.
In fact most routers will let you set the MAC address for the case when internet access is tied to a specific MAC address (usually the first PC to access it) and it is possible for any (wifi enabled) PC to spoof a MAC address to gain access to a filtered but open or weak (WEP) network if it captures a packet in the air. Thus if special characters are not allowed it is important to use a long WPA2 password. See the GRC password haystacks page (link)

ParticipantWelcome to the forum

As Graham and Martin have indicated this is a common problem with a poorly screened scart lead.
I thought I had done a FAQ item about this but perhaps it got lost in the old place. Will re-do it when I have time.

ParticipantL7.26 is the loader version and I assume you mean UHF CH 31.
As for the channels in the 800s do a manual tune as per Martin’s post above.
