I don’t suppose there’s any news on a delivery date for either of the 2 services promised by the end of 2012? It’s now June 2013, so you’re now almost 6 months late with delivery.
This is a user forum, not an official feedback channel so we’re not late. 😉
Graham has indicated where you need to contact for an update.

My machine is the 9300T and it doesn’t have a USB socket.
You would have to open the unit and attach the drive to USB via an adapter or remove the drive and attach to a spare SATA or eSATA port
I have had a reply from Humax:- “Unfortunately the PVR-9300T models do not have the ability to retreive recorded programs from them and the hard-drives on which these are stored are using a EXT-3 file structure, which would most likely require specific software to read a Linux partition.”
I am taking some recordings off using Elgato Video Capture
Someone at Humax should definitely get their knuckles rapped for that howler.

Have you tried HDC (link) which has a Mac version – not sure how similar the filesystem is on the 9300 is to the 9200.
How is that going to work? It uses the USB port on the 9200 which is absent on the 9150.
Sorry Martin, in this instance I think you’re mistaken.
Last time I tried it, it used the USB-IDE mod. It is based on 9200treadfiles. From the HDC pages:

ParticipantHi and welcome to the forum

Unfortunately this is not possible with the T1000.
The FoxT2 would have been a better fit if you wanted to do this.

Alternatively you could try a Live Linux CD/DVD Distro.

ParticipantYou should be able to add the function to a button (via ‘KeyMagic’) but you need to contact OFA to find the correct EFC code, or you you try searching the remote control forums at Remote Central or Hifi-remotes (JP1) for more info.
Edit: try this – press magic then 074 or 00074. If that works program the code onto a convenient button. Gleaned from an update file on hifi-remote.

ParticipantIf you go for the 500GB you can upgrade the HDD later on if you wish or as damian says get an external drive or NAS. I have 2 NAS boxes and a collection of external drives which I back up recordings from both the 9200t and HDR-Fox-T2 to. The HDR plays the 9200t .ts files straight from the NAS boxes too.
If you’re sure the 9200 is dead, you could still put it on ebay for spares.

ParticipantThere is no return signal to pick up.
If you shine a bright light through the front of the unit you may be able to see the receiver – usually a similar appearance to an LED.

ParticipantIIRC from when people were starting to mod the 9200t there were several USB-IDE adapters that failed to work correctly. I had one sent to me for testing where the 2.5 inch drive connector worked but not the 3.5 inch side.
I think it should show up as USB to ATAPI bridge in Device Manager and then the drive as a separate item, NB as Damian says the drive must not be initialised by windows. It must not be allocated a drive letter. It can only be read by humaxrw.

I thought the camera trick was to check that the remote control was firing?
That’s correct, the camera sees the Infra red from the remote that the naked eye cannot but there is no response from the IR receiver for the camera to pick-up.
Liam, as long as the eye is changing channel etc then it’s in the right position. Ideally it should be slightly away from the IR receiver so as not to block commands from the remote.

ParticipantIn addition to what Martin has written, when you attach the drive to the PC do not let the PC ‘initialise the drive’.
If you are using Windows Vista or 7 then open an administrator command prompt (enter cmd in the search box and right-click on cmd.exe then select ‘run as administrator’) then CD to the directory where humaxrw is and enter the command as Martin has described. You shouldn’t need to do this under XP.

ParticipantThe HDR is designed to be ON whilst you are watching TV to allow the use of its time-shifting features hence the need for the RF IN and HDMI leads. In this mode it does not need the RF loop-through so it is not required to be in the manual.
The manual for your TV should state that in order to receive programmes on it’s internal tuner you would need an aerial connection. Therefore if you wish to watch TV from the TV’s internal tuner and lose the benefit of time-shifting you need the RF loop cable.

I wouldn’t have minded the PC GUI configuration so much if it had been faster and less buggy, but I still think simple things like moving one button for another should be possible on the remote “standalone” rather than lancing it up to a computer via USB. With the 975 learning code on the URC7960 you point both remotes at each other, press the button on the universal remote you want to learn a function to, press the button on the original remote and job done.
As you say though, it really depends on what you’re looking to achieve. Sometimes I decide moving a few buttons around so the most used buttons are in the “thumb zone” (middle of the remote) and that can take just a few seconds.
The problem with learning rather than using button codes whether via a GUI or numerical input is that learning uses more memory in the remote so reduces the number of functions.
Though the GUI configuration can be slow you can achieve similar results to the old JP1 and JP1.2 methods without having to look up or decode the protocols and button codes.
(Currently using an OFA Xsite Lite and a URC7555)

ParticipantHi John.
I have a 1TB NAS with files transferred from the 9200t still in .ts format some awaiting editing if I ever get the time. These all play fine on the Fox T2 over the network.
As Martin says you can copy SD recordings to an attached USB drive (no need for a mod) and these will play over the network as well.
I should draw your attention to the forum policy (link) on decryption of HD programmes.
