The bottom line is if you do not have version software 1.00.26 on your units, then you need to get it uploaded soonest.
The software has been broadcast many many times, the significant factor as to why users have not been auto upgraded appears to be that they leave units on 24/7.
The software update is now being broadcast on a 24 hour cycle as per earlier in this thread.
Have a read through all the posts, and if you are still stuck then come back to us.

Quote:Have not seen what you appear to be experiencing reported before, I don’t know if any of our other members have? This (freezing while I was typing the installation code) happened to me. I think the solution is to unlug the aerial. Thus:
1. Unplug aerial
2. Switch on
3. Use menu to set automatic update (and an appropriate time if necessary)
4. Exit menu
5. Place in standby
6. Plug in aerial
7. Wait for the automatic update
Great work Barry – I hope you weren’t planning a quiet night!

Thanks for that Ross.
Of course taking the aerial out will assist, I should have thought of that, but my units took a good minute to lock up, so I could access the menus at will.

You should be able to change channel once you have power cycled, press 1 immediately a picture appears and it should change to BBC1.

ModeratorSorry I am having trouble understanding this one.
Once you have pressed OK on highlighting the installation menu you should be prompted for the password, after entering the default of 0000(four zeros) on pressing the fourth zero you should be presented with a new menu.
You should then be able to select the software update option.
Have not seen what you appear to be experiencing reported before, I don’t know if any of our other members have?

Once menu is displayed, can you not select other options ie
Installation (default password 0000)
Software Update etc
I can get into installation and put in 0000 but then it gets stuck again.
Use the switch on the back of the unit to power cycle it, and try again, once you have a picture press menu etc quickly.
I did not have a problem earlier when first investigating the issue.

Sarah – Welcome to the Forum
Sorry it has taken a while to respond.
As I understand it you have a 9150 and if so there is no solution until tomorrow when the latest software will be broadcast again from 10 am.
If you use the switch on the rear of the unit to power cycle the unit, and once you get a picture immediately press menu, you should gain some control……however until you have updated the software it will lock up again I’m afraid.
thants ok barry i see that you have been very busy, thank you for your reply, do i just leave in standby all night then is that how it will be fixed?
Sarah
For a 9150 it should update overnight Thurs/Fri, or you could try manually tomorrow after 10am.
I will be here tomorrow to assist as required.

Welcome to the Forum

You are correct in what you say.
If the unit locks before you get into menus, power cycle, and once you have a picture press menu immediately.

Hello Barry. Thanks for confirming re: power cycle. Correct, nothing at all happens when I press Menu ( or any other button) – I am using the buttons on pvr itself not the remote. I’m assuming pvr hasn’t died as it merrily continues to display BBC 1 & the time after each power cycle
Sounds like you are not quick enough and it is locking before you get to press menu button…..power cycle, and once you have a picture immediately press the menu button on the remote.

Hello again. At the risk of sounding a total numpty – just wanted to clarify that when you say “power cycle” I am assuming you mean switching off & on again ?
Use the switch on the rear of the unit to switch off then on again.

Hello Barry. You are working very hard! I’m afraid pressing menu yields zero result. What next ?

Pressing menu should display a list of items, are you saying you get nothing at all after pressing menu?

You need a serial cable (null modem type with pins 2/3 swapped over), and you PC will either need a seral port or you have to use a usb to serial adaptor.
If you do not have any of this the best bet would be Humax Support for a swap out.
