Has anyone noticed this? I was using iPlayer the other day (catching up with HIGNFY), and the sound was awful. Thought it was my AVR and speakers so wasted time messing about with it until I went back to live TV when the sound returned to normal.

    Has it always been like this with iPlayer and the other apps on the TV Portal too?

    This is 99% a network (not a Humax box) issue and the mention of homeplugs leads me to suggest attempting to get those set up correctly first.

    If your TV accept discrete remote control for input switching, then you can get a Harmony remote to select the right input for the right ‘activity’ when you use it to switch everything on.

    Looks like your HDR is picking up signals from more than one transmitter.

    Check out my blog post on the HD here: http://myhumax.org/blog/?cat=26

    Under the heading ‘Weak Signals’ you find instructions on how to tune into the strongest transmitter which will stop the pixelation.

    @killwilly: Do you have channels in the 800+ range on your HDR?

    The whole thing just be a repeat of Freesat where all manufacturers will drop out leaving Humax to be only one.

    Three tuners? Unfortunately not. Specs for a Youtube box is (from Wikipedia):

    * Twin DVB-T2 tuners

    * Embedded Linux 2.6.23 or later operating system

    * Maximum of 26 dB of fan noise

    * 720p graphics plane

    * MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 video

    * RGB SCART socket

    * HDMI 1.3 socket

    * Powered RF loop-through

    * Optical or coaxial S/PDIF connection

    * Up to 5.1 surround sound

    * Ethernet port supporting 10BASE-T and 100BASE-TX

    * 802.11n wireless support, integrated or via a USB adapter

    * 950 MHz CPU

    * Two USB 2.0 sockets

    * Support for USB mass storage devices

    * 320 GB hard disk drive (30 GB reserved for pushed content)

    * Support for on hard disk drive encryption using AES128 or Triple DES

    * 512 MB of RAM

    😳 Ignore the post above, as that dates 2011.

    Here’s a more up-to-date report (6th April 2012): http://www.ft.com/cms/s/0/6bca36c8-77f2-11e1-b237-00144feab49a.html#axzz1tc2L9wsP

    Essentially saying:

They’ve missed launching for the Olympics[/*]

Only 3 manufacturers left: Humax, Huawei and Pace[/*]

£200-£300 range – a pricetag that may deter potential buyers[/*]

While it remains in testing, it is far from changing the way people watch TV[/*]
Delay reported here too: http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/2011/feb/09/youview-launch-delayed-2012 (admittedly, this article was published on 9th Feb, things could have changed since then…)

    You need to call them. They don’t often (if at all) respond to emails.

    There is no avoiding calling Technical Support as they need to establish that your box is faulty before proceeding.

    You can try finding an alternative number to the 0870 number by using http://www.saynoto0870.com/ but chances that you might not get hold of the Technical Support team.

    I would expect it would have to conform to the specifications in this document:

    That I’ve got quite a few of them and especially, I’ve not got a 3View or a Technika or any other rubbish PVR makes! ;)

    I have voted yes, but of course it would all depend on whether they were free or not, quality of the streamming and quality of the programmes!

    Is there a visually better EPG available for the foxsat?

    No, not on the Humax or any other freesat box – see below.

    Since freesat is at its heart an EPG

    Paul.

    Which is why the look and feel of it is strictly controlled by Freesat! Make your suggestions to them…

    Not that they listen, which might explain why manufacturers are leaving Freesat in droves – not that there were many in the first place…

    If you are talking about the Xbox 360, then I can’t get it to see the FOXSAT-HDR with Mediatomb installed on the custom firmware or the DLNA server on the HDR-FOX T2 (see this post).

    The only thing (apart from Windows 7) it can see is my D-link NAS 320 (which is an DLNA server). I think it is an Xbox issue – if anyone knows how to get it working please let us know.
