ParticipantI have not done the above precisely, but have converted DVDs to AVI format (using AVS Video Converter), put it on a NAS box and am able to play it using my HDR-FOX T2 as a DLNA client. Does this answer your question?

White version of unit, but not at launch.

Looks very silver in that pic. Is it white or silver? and is it gloss or matt white?

The remote looks remarkably simlar to the Youview remote, the only difference is freesta logo at the bottom, and possably som of the functions of the buttons
Some see the two boxes (not just the remotes!) – i.e. Youview and Freesat Freetime – as similar but competing platforms. But which is better? There’s only one way to find out!

ParticipantI suspect, like you, it is the SATA III specification rather than the Advanced Format, that is the problem here.
Unfortunately, my list here: http://myhumax.org/wiki/index.php/FOXSAT-HDR_Simple_HDD_Swap is old too.
You can read my experience with an Advanced Format drive here: http://myhumax.org/blog/?p=399
You might want to find out if you could switch the mode of the disk from SATA III to SATA II within the disk’s firmware – if that is possible at all…

I have also tried the AVS product with not much success, and I prefer handbrake as it is OS.
Any help greatly appreciated.
I wonder what *exactly* you have read on this forum… Have you looked here: http://myhumax.org/wiki/index.php/Media_Playback
It shows what media formats I have tried playing from an attached USB drive. I will update this list by playing a few more formats from my D-Link 320 NAS tonight.
Conversion from .ts to MP4 by AVS Video Converter should play just fine served off a DLNA NAS, but I will confirm this with a few tests tonight.
The latest AVS Video Converter (v8.2) has profiles for conversion to Apple iPad HD Video (H.264, 1280×720, 24fps) and Video for Android tablets (H.264, 1280×720, 24fps). Either of these two profiles should do for reducing the file size of HD recordings but maintain the picture quality for a big screen.
If you have purchased an unlimited version of AVS Video Converter, you can download an upgrade using the update manager, or you can download the profiles packs separately.
I will post a new blog article on using AVS Video Converter v8.2 soon. This might also cover streaming from a NAS to the HDR.

ParticipantSo much for the work done by their trialists…

I can imagine a headline a la Register style:

ParticipantTwo questions:
1. Do you have channels in the 800 range?
2. Can you get BBCi using the red buttons?
myhumax
ParticipantWell yes, that’s confusing part! Having now read the post (and not ezra’s reply), this my reply:
Even IF the HD-FOX T2 the OP is planning to buy in the UK to take back to Oz works with the HDR 7500T, I was pointing out that our (non-customised) HDR-FOX T2 can only can only start streaming the CL programme once it has fully recorded.
I think we need to advise the OP to:
1. Check that the HD-FOX T2 works in Oz
2. Is compatible with his HDR 7500T for streaming
3. Check that exported recordings (from the 7500T) can be played back on the HD-FOX T2.
I would suggest the OP purchase an Oz equivalent of the HD-FOX T2 in Oz even if the answer to (1) and (2) is yes. According to this page it says:
Quote:Easy connected Home (Home Network)Share Video, Music and Photos from
your network devices like PC or Humax HD STB
So there must be one available in Oz -no? (Surely they are not suggesting going to the UK and getting a HD-FOX T2?!)

2. You might be able to do this with the custom firmware but without it you have to wait until the recording has ended before you can watch it on the other box.
Is there custom firmware for the Australian equivalent of the HDR?
Dunno, thought we were talking about the HD and HDR FOX T2.
I could be wrong as I didn’t understand the oz bit in the OP. My point also refers to Ezra’s reply….
