ParticipantI think Humax missed a trick with the new ‘multi-function’ remote. They’ve could have embedded controlling the 9150/9200/9300T PVR under the DVD device – do Humax make DVD players?
But a Harmony remote would easily, cheaply and ergonomically replace any remote. Have a read of my blog post: http://myhumax.org/blog/?p=336

ParticipantI’ve this program on two new .ts files (transferred off the 9200T) and got the same playback problem. But I transferred them on to the HDR – on to an attached external drive via FTP and they playback just fine.
Conclusion must be that my PC is the problem here
and that the AV2HDR-T2 works just fine
@Raydon: is it possible for you to publish the HMT format for the HDR as you did for the FOXSAT-HDR, please? For some reason I have recordings on my HDR-T2 that neither show up or playback (encrypted). These must have been transferred from HDD that I’ve upgraded and directly transferred across manually instead of getting the HDR to do it.

ParticipantYou might want to read up on my HD-FOX T2 blog post here: http://myhumax.org/blog/?p=540
You can get two wireless adaptors (from Humax Direct, I expect) to stream from the HDR to the HD.
There is an issue streaming recordings over 4GB in size to the HDR and HD – i.e. you can’t at the moment – a bug will stop the playback when the 4GB limit is reached.

ParticipantI recently had this problem on a wired connection. It was the switch that was at fault – power supply issues. I replaced the power supply and reconnected the network leads. All is working now.
It is worth checking the network.

EDIT: Just tried to playback (in VLC) a couple of converted .ts files exported from the FOXSAT-HDR, and they don’t seem to play… Is it me or anyone else having this problem?
My laptop won’t play HD smoothly with vlc. Have you tried Splash Lite ?
Not started with HD yet! This is just SD recs… I will have a further play with it on a different PC (currently on a 64-bit Win 7 box…)

ParticipantNice one – again raydon! Well done!
[Although I think you are missing a trick. I wonder if you could work on a new versions, where it can detect exported recordings from the FOXSAT-HDR, and create just the sidecar files for the HDR-FOX T2? Also a great opportunity to import all the channel, EPG and other info directly from the FOXSAT’s sidecar files… I say versions, because the orginal AV2HDR could also be made to do the same with the HDR-FOX T2 exported recordings, in a converse process.
I don’t know why Humax produced two different formats for their sidecar files for the two different platforms, but I guess this is an opportunity for whizz kids like you to really shine

ParticipantHaving just written the above, and subconsciously working things out. I’ve found a solution to my power saving issue… I like it when these things are discussed and a solution comes to hand – the real spirit of myhumax.org forums!
I was looking through the Menu options as ezra suggested, and thought about the power on/off option. I had, for some reason, thought you can’t get the machine off unless you use the ON option too. Well, looks like they are independent off each other, so the following would work…
So for my streaming issue, I’ve turned OFF Automatic Power Down. And set the Power off option to 01:00. So now it doesn’t matter when I power ON the HDR so that I can stream recordings to the bedroom, it will not power OFF until 1am. So if I decide to retire to bed at 8 or 9pm, I can watch a 3+ hours movie without fear that I would get cut off just before the end!

Now, how to solve the 4GB issue..?

ParticipantThanks for that Barry, I understand what you are saying….

Thanks for this also. I am aware this facility is here, but as I understand it and use it turned on, especially as it applies to streaming content off this box.
You see you need the HDR to be ON to playback files from it, often using a machine that is not in the same room as the HDR, so a power saving feature to turn it off when not in use is needed as you won’t want to get out of bed just to turn it off when you’ve finished watching. You need this facility to power itself off if left unused. If I turn it off, the HDR would be left constantly running.
But this facility need to know when it was last used to know whether it has been left idle to turn it off. Otherwise it is just a plain timer to power it off after 3 hours whether you are using it or not. As is, it is not a power saving facility but a ‘you shouldn’t be using the HDR for more than 3 hours at a time’ setting!

ParticipantI have now looked into the 4GB issue. Yes the HD does bomb out at 4GB when playing a recording bigger than this in file size.
I also tested the HDR as a client, playing back a file from my UPnP NAS device using the HDR, and yes the bug is also in the HDR’s firmware.
Apparently, Humax are aware, so I hope this will get fixed in the new firmware release for the HD and HDR.

ParticipantNot sure if the HDR suffers the same 4GB bug (stop playback beyond this value) when acting as a DLNA client like the HD – must test this out soon. It should play back any file smaller than this just fine, and will play any file greater than 4GB up to that 4GB limit point.
My single MP4 format test works on the HDR via USB attached drive. I will test some more MP4 videos out and update this table: http://myhumax.org/wiki/index.php/Media_Playback
See AVS Video Convertor blog posts for video converting: http://myhumax.org/blog/?cat=27
EDIT: Just did a couple of more tests. The additions plays fine.
You could download MediaInfo and test to see what the video file format are actually.

ParticipantHave not had the HD for very long, so have not encountered that…
One thing I have noticed when streaming from the HDR with power saving is enabled is that it powers off after 3 hours. Have you seen this reported anywhere? I’ve uploaded a whole series of AVIs to the HDR and even manually playing back episodes after episodes, the box will still turn off after 3 hours…
Could these two issues be related? I will see if I have the 4gb problem with the HD. Whatever the result, I am sure Humax will fix issues if we detail how to replicate them.

ParticipantThanks to v20 on both the HDR and HD, we are able to stream SD and HD recordings from the HDR to HD…
Look out for my blog post on this coming soon!

ParticipantHas anyone gotten an Xbox 360 to act as a DLNA client to the HDR yet?
I had a a very quick look and could not get the Xbox to see the HDR…
