Apologies for my ignorance, any information links to DMS server, I have no idea that is. I enabled samba and ftp on humax and was able to do a network drive map from my Mac and PC.

On a Windows 10 computer, start Windows Explorer, select This PC, scroll down to Network (NB don’t click on Network) and you should see HUMAX FVP DMS xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx which is the DMS server, right click on it and select Open.

Debating now whether to get a refurb FVP-500t or go for the new Aura. Decisions, decisions…

I have an FVP-5000T and it is OK but not great and I doubt that the many quirks in the software are going to get sorted out now there is a newer model. I would go for the Aura as it is reportedly much more responsive and the ability to use Android apps appears to open up all sorts of possibilities.

I’m sure I was a member of this forum. I’ve had Humax devices dating back to the early satellite receivers that were sold to the Evangelical channel supporters, then onto the first PVR the 8000T, 9200T and on through a selection of other Humax units before going for a DigitalStream, finally landing on the current Manhattan.

Still, when I tried to log in it said I wasn’t recognised.

If it is a LONG time ago then you were probably a member of an earlier Humax PVR forum that died when the rather erratic owner took it off line. This Forum was set up about ten years ago to fill the gap.

Yes the drives can be swapped but all recordings are encrypted and only playable on the original machine.

The Humax is an HDR-1100s with 500 gb data. I didn’t run fsck but I could read, copy and delete files and scanned with Disks/Gparted and the hdd appears to be clean, which is why I wondered if there was some index it keeps about all the recordings. There are 3 partitions on the hdd all of which appear ok.

My advice is to run fsck on all three partitions and see what that thinks.

You say if copy a recorded tv programme, and I guess the associated files, to a usb I can then load it back onto the Humax via its usb port.

I tried telnet to communicate with the humax but it didn’t allow me.

Sorry as you hadn’t told us what box you have, I was making an assumption that it was a Freeview box. If you can mount both drives on your Linux box then I don’t see why you shouldn’t be able to copy files directly from one to another.

There are two different Humax models with “1010” in their name. Are your models DTR-T1010 or HDR-1010S?

Recently all the previous recordings have been wiped, although there was minimal on the hard drive. Since then, although the future recordings are showing, nothing is recording. Can anyone help, and is this a failure of the hard drive and can those previous recordings be recovered.

Which model of Humax recorder do you have? There is at least one known problem that might explain what you are seeing.
