Barry does have a copy of an old reset file for the 9300 and I think that is your best chance. It will need to be uploaded via the serial interface using my flash 9200 software see https://tynecomp.co.uk/flash9200.html If you don’t have a computer with a serial port then I could lend you a USB to serial adapter if required. Frankly I can’t think of anything else to try.

Hi, I have a 5000T manually tuned, its usually always fine but the last 2 days i have noticed the picture keeps stickinig and going off a lot then saying low or no signal.

Just wondered if there was issues in this area?

Please could you tell us what the signal strength and quality is as reported by the Humax? Without that information we would just be guessing.

Sorry to have raised any hopes; what I have is a fix for a problem where the box loses track of its ID which prevents software updates. I have asked Barry if he knows whether a system flush exists.

The recorder wakes up, the fan runs, it displays PVR-9300Y on the LCD panel, waits a bit then goes back into standby, showing the clock 12:00.

OK. I think I have a system flush file for the 9300T somewhere which sorts out corruption in the NVRAM; give me a few minutes to see if can find it.

Still interested in getting ftp working on it though. ftp://aura:pincode@192.168.x.xxx:2323/ still not allowing a connection.

Can I just check that you are substituting the numerical value for the placeholder pincode?

On looking on this forum I downloaded humaxrw and ran humaxrw 1: -z to see if that would fix it. Now the recorder just starts its fan, shows PVR-9300T and then shows the clock. On the TV I see ‘576p’ and then a blank screen as the recorder has gone into standby.

So what happens if you now press the standby button on the remote (top right)?

That is the programme was being recorded whilst at the same time I was watching it.

You haven’t made it clear whether you were playing back the recording (what is usually called chase play) or just watching the recording live?

I had pressed pause for a few minutes and then continued watching. Several times during the programme there were brief bursts of pixellation. When I watched the recording back again today at the points where the errors were, the recording appeared fine. That seems to rule out signal issues as being the cause in my case.

I agree the signal levels are well below the levels where I would suspect tuner overload and your observation confirms that is isn’t a signal strength issue.

It makes me wonder therefore if there could be hard disk/filesystem issues which mean that occasionally the playback buffers cannot access data quick enough. Last night I was recording 2 HD streams and playing back 1 HD stream.

On the earlier Humax PVRs the hard drive is easily capable of dealing with that workload. Do we know what make and model of hard drive is fitted to the Aura? Again on earlier models the bottleneck is the chip set used which is chosen to cope with the normal peak load but not have much performance margin.

I would hope that if I’m recording a channel, watch it and then press pause that it uses the stream its already recording rather than starting a new “Pause Buffer”. Otherwise that could be 3 HD streams to record.

Again I can’t speak for the Aura but on earlier Humax models it would be using the recorded stream rather than a buffer.

Just wonder if this could be the same scenario where others have observed picture break up. Don’t know whether it is then related to number of record streams, time delay etc.

Some testing would hopefully show what is critical. If you could find a test case that reliably reproduces the problem then I suspect that would be very useful to the software developers.

On iMac, like on windows, in the file manager (finder), network drives become visible. When connecting to fvp-5000t, iMac asks who you want to connect as, and I just used ‘guest’ account with no password.

OK that does sound like SAMBA. Interesting that it works on an iMac; Humax must be using a more up to date version of SAMBA than is used in the Custom firmware for the HDR-FOX T2 and FOXSAT-HDR where the obsolescent version 1.0 SMB protocol is used because the later versions are more resource intensive.

Unfortunately, unlike Windows, the files are still .TS and encrypted.

If you transfer via SAMBA to Windows the files will be encrypted.

Trying to find if “DMS Server” concept exists on iMac.

What you are looking for is a DLNA client that will allow saving of the output. It might be possible with VLC although last time I tried I couldn’t find the right options.

Have you got the 20Mb limit then, Martin?

I have not the faintest idea. Wherever possible I prefer to explain things via words rather than pictures so very rarely upload anything. I do run an international technical mailing list that I pay for and I am acutely aware of the potential costs of allowing members to upload arbitrary sized images.

I know not a specific matter for this thread, but thought I’d pick up on it nonetheless as it seems that it’s news to graham that most of us have a very different file size restriction!

I would say it is news to a lot of members; I have been a member since the start of this forum and I knew nothing about it.

But after further checks this morning, I see that by turning Samba ‘off’, the drive mapping from fvp-5000t was gone on iMac.

Forgive my ignorance, but could you explain what you mean by drive mapping and what you use it for?

If SD recordings are transferred to Windows 10 they should be decrypted using Samba.

I have seen absolutely no evidence that transferring recordings via Samba decrypts recordings. If you think it does then please describe the method. The best way to get unencrypted SD recordings is, as I said above, to use the DMS server which is just a way of connecting to the DLNA server on the box; this gives decryption much quicker than any other method.

Have had problems with YouTube on my Humax 1100s for a while. In the last couple of days all the apps bbciplayer, Netflix etc have disappeared! Says network unplugged.

How is the Humax connected to the router?

Surely auto correct is a site service as part of the text handling in posts. Should be the same for all of us.

Surely it will come from the browser not the forum software.
