I have ethernet connected, and on the Network Settings page it shows Ethernet connected, it shows IP address etc. However, the Aura says I am not connected to the Internet!

So please tell us what all the values are when connected by Ethernet.

Will it update if I leave it switched on overnight or what am I doing wrong?

It is a phased rollout so you just need to be patient. Our box updated itself without any intervention 2 days ago.

Any idea roughly what time the incident occurred?

Think it must’ve been around 12.30am (Friday night/Saturday morning) I think. At least that’s roughly when we finished watching a programme & went back to the recording’s page. 50 mins before, all had been fine.

OK I was watching something until about 1am so similar times. I just wonder whether when the date rolled over at midnight something happened to confuse the box about what the date was. By the morning everything was working properly again but the Humax was suffering from a problem that the software designers had imagined. All speculation though.

Btw, out of interest, we now have a new aerial and channels are all back….but bbc stations seem to be pixelated, mildly though, and are stopping for a split second before continuing. Any ideas what might be causing it. Other channels might be affected….poss ch4 but not sure. Thanks!

What is the signal strength and quality as reported by the Humax when you are watching live TV through the box on one of the affected channels. The other thing to check is that the aerial lead is separated as far as possible from the HDMI lead. I wasted a lot of time fiddling around with signal strength because of blips in the picture only to discover that carpet fitters had moved the TV and managed to tangle together all my carefully separated leads. Separating aerial and HDMI lead fixed that problem.

had you set the match to be recorded? if so, when you selected the prog to play, you may have selected Watch Live instead of Watch from Start (or whatever). that may have confused the system|???

No it wasn’t previously recording and there was nothing related to it in the list of recordings.

It would’ve been about 11.15pm, on the Thursday. Put it back on at about 10am Friday morning & it stayed on, apart from about 3hrs mid afternoon, til the ‘incident’! It appeared after we’d watched a recording & went back to the main recordings page.

Any idea roughly what time the incident occurred?

HELP! recordings section suddenly showed 128 recordings instead of 80.

    deleted programmes had reappeared,

It had programmes shown as recorded, but failed, FROM NEXT WEEK!

Schedule shows no recordings for Sunday when there should be 2, 2 for Monday when it should be more…..but it also shows sundays date for Monday, some of Mondays programmes for Wednesday etc!

Can I go back to this problem please; do you remember what time you put the Humax into standby the previous day.

    UPDATE……

New aerial fitted. Bloke decided to try it in the humax, just in case….& it worked! Everything back! All channels returned and clear. Unsure if humax is still a bit dodgy or if it was all due to it not liking an analogue aerial any more! We shall see.

Glad it appears to be working, please keep us updated.

I couldn’t work out how to convert HD files on the FVP-5000T to SD.

As Graham so far hasn’t answered, I will stick with my answer that it isn’t possible. You can get the recordings off the box but they will be encrypted and at this point in time we don’t know how to remove the encryption.

Ok – so I found I can connect my laptop’s Filezilla to the PVR using host ftp://192.168.1.194 username: humaxftp password: 0000. I haven’t given a port number but it has still connected and I can see files on the PVR in the remote site section of my Filezilla window.

The FTP server is using the standard FTP port number so you don’t need to specify anything different.

I can see that recordings on the new machine have .hmt, .nts, .thm, and .ts files, but I’m guessing I can just drag the .ts files over.

    Correct just the .ts files.

I think that you have slipped through a crack in the space/time continuum.

Isn’t that an inevitable consequence of lockdown.

Checked my FVP5000T today, 16 Feb 12 noon and no update. Checked for new software – nothing.

It is a phased rollout; my box updated yesterday so you will get it eventually.

Looked on Humax support site, and no sign of the update. Why can’t Humax just put it on their website for download?

Good question; given they have an earlier version of the software is there, it does seem that it wouldn’t take much effort to upload it for those who are desperate for the update.

I logged onto my laptop as administrator and ran the command line as administrator.

If I run humaxrw 2: -l or humaxrw 1: 2: -b I get ‘Unknown partition table’ as the response.

It looks like the 2000T has a different format for its disk.

When you said new disk, I thought you meant the second hard drive you had been using on the 9300T. The HDR-2000T uses a Linux ext3 file system. I suggest the easiest way to do what you want is to use humaxrw to copy the recordings to a PC and then enable the FTP server on the HDR-2000T and copy the recordings to the HDR-2000T over your network using an FTP client such as Filezilla.

Hi Martin, I now have a HDR-2000T and it looks like a good machine.

Good; we have had for several years which my partner uses and she is happy with it. Check that the firmware is up to date.

I would like to copy the programs from the old 9300 disk to the new disk.

Would you advise that I do a direct backup of all the files – i.e. use humaxrw 2: 3: -b

Not something I have done, but looking at the README file it looks correct.

    Alternatively is recovery mode better – presumably humaxrw 2: 3: -r ?

No you don’t want that option; it is useful when the file system gets corrupted and the list of recordings is lost.

And who the xxxx are Arris?

Arris merged with Pace who designed some of the Sky PVRs. I think Arris have in turn been taken over by Commscope.

Martin – sorry, box is about 2 weeks old.

I would try talking to Humax support on the telephone who may be able to help you.
