Hi I bought this box from another person and it’s great and old, do humax still update this box? I tried downloading the software but the box wouldn’t start update,
Exactly what did you do with the update you downloaded?
I let it sit all night with internet on and still no update, is box just to old to update?
It was never possible to update an HDR-FOX T2 over the Internet. Updates in the past were broadcast and received via the aerial but this stopped a few years ago. The only way to update is via download and transferring to a USB memory stick.
The HDR-FOX T2 whilst old is still quite a decent box and you might want to pop over to https://hummy.tv to learn about the custom firmware which runs alongside the standard firmware and enhances the capabilities of the box.

If windows 10 you will have to enable Samba
I am sorry but that answer is just wrong. You do NOT want to use Samba because that will transfer encrypted recordings that will only be playable on the Humax that made the recording. The fastest way to transfer unecrypted SD recordings is to use the DLNA server; you can’t get HD recordings off the Humax unencrypted.
In Advance settings>Server management turn on the “Network server” (this is actually the DLNA server) and set a time period each day where you want the server to be available.
The instructions for what to do next will depend on whether the PC is running Windows PC or a Mac.

In terms of differences between the 5000t and the AURA which would be the better solution for the average user wanting Freeview HD on a 4K TV to record upwards of 3 channels at once, stream Netflix, Amazon and other streaming services? BTW the TV in question has a Netflix button so I guess maybe not as important to have it on the remote?
I would say going forward the Aura is likely to be the better bet as Humax are busily fixing bugs (as well as responding to some user requests) in a way that they never did for the FVP-4000/5000T. The only drawback for your requirements appears to be that that the Aura doesn’t officially support Netflix all though there may be unofficial ways to do it.

Still no joy! There have been weird things happening to my list of recorded programmes. Tonight, there were some programmes with the wrong titles and 2 programmes indicating the same title but one was a completely different programme. One programme would not delete. Then suddenly the list went back to normal.
Initially this evening I couldn’t get the box to switch on until I did a re-boot.
To me that sounds like either a file system problem or an issue with the hard drive. I would suggest contacting Humax to discuss the issue.

Search still not working on my HDR-1000S, any news from Humax Towers when this will get the fix?
Is your Humax connected to the Internet?

Edit: I think I have done it. I was looking in the wrong place.
Edit2: Yes, I have transferred a couple of files and successfully tried casting back to the FVP.
Perhaps you could say what was unclear in my instructions?

BT solves the issue by keeping DCHP and NAT with the original router.
I am pretty sure that the original router is doing DHCP, NAT and routing. I agree with larkim that its a pedantic point but your insistence that the master disk was doing routing made me wonder if I understood the configuration properly.

Nope, the master disk connects to the router by Ethernet. This then becomes the router for all the WiFi traffic.
How can a device with only a local IP address be a router? I am happy to accept that all the WiFi traffic will be passing through the master disk but I struggle to see how it can be functioning as a router.

A further look at it this morning, and I now realise it did record the programme but over the top of something I had recorded weeks back, which is now showing as a duplicate, but it has been recorded over.
First thought was the hard drive was maybe full, but no it is showing 57% free.
Apart from the one programme I manually recorded, I also set it to timer record 4 programmes, 2 have recorded as normal, and the other 2 have recorded over a programme that I had yet to watch which is annoying.
Those are classic signs of the file system getting corrupted. If you do nothing then the problem will get worse and eventually all your recordings will disappear. My advice is to watch any important recordings and then format the hard drive from the HDD Control menu item in the recordings menu. I would say there is a 50% chance this will fix the problem; if the problem reoccurs within a few weeks then it is an indication that the hard drive is failing. If the hard drive is failing then your options are to fit a new hard drive or buy another PVR.

The box seems to store both welsh and English recordings when I only want the English broadcast.
The program numbers differ when trying to relate these to the TV Times schedules.and also differs between boxes again can I do something about this?
Manual tuning using the instructions at https://myhumax.org/forum/topic/manual-tuning-instructions-1 should resolve your problems.

Providing it’s an unmanaged network switch in theory this shouldn’t affect an Ethernet connection and yet with certain setups it clearly does. I’m clean out of theories.
I don’t think that is entirely correct; an unmanaged network switch still has to negotiate various parameters with each connection via a handshake and I have very occasionally seen problems caused by this. Substituting a different brand of switch as usually fixed the problem for me.

ParticipantI am not yet an Aura owner but one thing that I think I have seen mentioned is that the Aura shares a problem with the FVP-5000T where when the start or end time of scheduled recording is changed then the recording (using accurate recording) is unlikely to be complete whereas an HDR-FOX T2 will produce a faultless recording. It would be nice to see the Aura able to match the Ageing HDR-FOX T2 in this respect.

Can I again ask you to PM me your full post code so I can check all the possible transmitter options.
Thank you for the postcode. I agree that Sheffield is your best transmitter and should give a flawless signal although Emley Moor would also work. Because this is a long running thread I have rather lost the plot. Please could you summarise what problems you are currently experiencing? Also how you are retuning? The fact that Dave is remaining stubbornly in place suggests to me that you may be doing a Smart retune and I would suggest you try without the Smart option.

I have spoken to BT about this issue and it’s perfectly normal behaviour. There is only one router handling DCHP and that’s the Smarthub.
Right, that makes far more sense. Do the discs share a single IP address or does each disk have its own IP address?
