Is this a common problem and something that one has to live with or is there a fix?
I think there have been a couple of recent reports that have been fixed by doing a reset to default settings.

Based on what you say, is it reasonable to describe your position as an agent of Humax, authorised to distribute their software?
Barry has been a beta tester for far longer than this Forum has existed; he has contacts at Humax but to my knowledge that is the limit of his involvement.
I have just checked my system for version information as follows:
Note, no new system software from Humax since 13/08/2018.
and your point is what precisely?
Note also, that the YouTube app version looks to be less than 2 days old.
And so my current questions are:
All player apps seem to be under fairly continuous development so nothing unusual.
1. If I follow your procedure, precisely what software will be updated?
The main firmware for the box.
2. Will the version data be updated?
Yes.
3. If Google are releasing the YouTube app so frequently, won’t this then overwrite the fix?
No.
4. Question 3 assumes that the problem is a Google problem, but I suppose the app might be calling a generic search ui contained in the Humax system software.
I think the problem is that it is calling a function in the browser built into the Humax firmware which doesn’t function in the way the app requires.
5. Has the software been fully regression tested?
I doubt any PVR software is fully regression tested. Plenty of people here have installed it without any major problems.
6. Is there a rollback procedure in the event of further issues?
Download the previous version of the software from the Humax website now and install it if required. Humax software updates are, as far as I know, always complete (rather than patches) so you can go backwards and forwards as you wish.

Windows 10 doesn’t see it on my network and never has.
You don’t see an ftp server on the network. What I would suggest is that you have a try with the free Filezilla ftp client software. Obviously you need to have enabled the FTP server on the Humax and activated the Download folder.

Tried 3 differently memory sticks and an external hdd to transfer avi files to or from my 5000t as I have done on many occasions before.
However, now it seems to either take forever or not at all and the little blue triangle merrily spins away.
Have you considered using FTP? See page 24 of the user manual.

Is it possible to put “pad” time in recordings, i.e if a programme starts 2 minutes late I lose the end of the programme. Is there a way round this
If you don’t have padding that shouldn’t happen on channels that use accurate recording. Please can you give some examples where you have lost the end of the recording (Channel, time, date , name of programmes).

There are a few little annoying bugs to sort out, but I’m sure they’ll be done soon.
The Aura beta test thread which is pinned to the top of the Latest discussions is worth keeping an eye on. Humax are bug fixing in a way I haven’t seen for a long time so I think they are determined to try and make this a very good box.

Failed to record second episode (12) of Master Chef tonight, not flagged in epg as a recording.had to manually record Not in schedule list, Friday’s listing has no information! Next monday’s episode (13) is listed. Looks like a BBC error.
Same for me too.
On an FVP-5000T the second episode was not set to record in the guide on Thursday morning; I had to cancel the series and reschedule to get it to work properly. It did make successful recordings of both programmes.

My mother-in-law reports that her 9300T now frequently forgets scheduled programs if she switches it to standby, having previously only forgotten on rare occasions.
I read that the occasional lapse is a known issue:
Correct it is a known issue with no known fix other than the workaround of leaving the box active all the time. Probably time to update to a more recent model. If her requirements are largely met by the 9300T then a reconditioned HDR-2000T from HumaxDirect might be a reasonable replacement. If she wants something newer then I wouldn’t recommend the FVP-5000T; the new Aura seems like a good box where Humax are doing a lot of bug fixing (which didn’t happen with the FVP-5000T); it has almost all the bells whistles but isn’t cheap. Alternatively the Manhattan T3-R seems to be well liked by its users.

Dug out the thermometer. ambient is 23.9 C. The vent output on the left hand side records 30.6C. RF in plug is 36c so is warmer than the rest. Guessing must be the location of the interior heatsink.
My readings: ambient 21 C, RF in plug is 30 C; hottest part of the top of the box is about 40 C. This seems reasonable to me.

I’ve managed to reconnect with telnet via PuTTY after going in maintenance mode and selected fixdisk but it couldn’t find the disk. Should I join the other forum and ask there if there’s anything I can try?
Worth a try. User Black Hole has a guide to troubleshooting at https://hummy.tv/forum/threads/steps-for-resolving-hdr-fox-crash-reboot-issues.5320/ but I don’t think you will lose anything by asking if anybody has any ideas about what to do. Still happy to help.

Hi I’ve recently installed the latest version of the custom firmware from hummy.tv would I still be able to install this?
Yes but then you will lose the functionality of the custom firmware. If you look in the Beta section of the hummy.tv HDR-FOX T2 custom firmware forum there are links to a version of the custom firmware including the Humax fix.

I also tried the full name of the file which is ‘20210314 1900 Antiques Roadshow’ but that didn’t work either.
A long time since I have used humaxrw but I thought the filename was just a number and the programme title came from one of the associated files. Look at the directory with Windows Explorer; whatever file name you see is the file name you should use. If the filename contains spaces then you must put quote marks around it; eg if the the filename is ‘20210314 1900 Antiques Roadshow’ then I would try:
humaxrw 2: -p “20210314 1900 Antiques Roadshow”.ts

I have inherited a 4 year old FVP-5000. It will not record anything at all, either on instant record or on timer. Apparently, it never has but of course is now way out of warranty.
I have checked software update and it says it’s OK. Also can’t get into ‘storage’ option in PVR Settings to see if HDD is OK.
Both symptoms that the hard drive isn’t working properly. If you feel competent, remove the hard drive, connect it to a PC and have a look at the SMART data.

Another thing I have found is that Windows media player on my PC will play some of the recorded program .ts files but not others. Is there a particular reason why some play and some don’t?
I can’t immediately think why some will not play. Perhaps try a different media player such as the free VLC.

Nothing wrong with it but 192.168.178 is an unusual class C address.
So do you think that an unusual IP subnet will cause problems? I regularly use unusual subnets without issues.
