The wifi signal in front room is 2 out of 4 bars; the signal in the back room is 3 out of 4 bars.
What I would suggest you do is temporarily move the Humax from the front room into the back room and do a test to see if thing work better. If they do work better then your problem is indeed the WiFi signal strength. You could either boost the WiFi signal strength or use Homeplug adapters to send the signal via the mains wiring (which is what I do).

Both Humax units are connected via wifi. The booklet does confirm that I would be able to network them and be able to view recordings. Humax one is at the front of my property; Humax two is at the back and the Netgear (Plusnet) router is at the back of the property.
What is the WiFi signal strength like where the each of the FVP’s are located? I am guessing that the strength may be lower at the front of the property.

Martin: While you are thinking about this, could it be associated with the encryption of HD recordings, preventing a different 5000T from playing them?
It is a good thought. When I tested between an HDR-FOX T2 and an FVP-5000T; the HDR_FOX T2 wouldn’t play HD content from the FVP-5000T. Maybe somebody with two FVPs can confirm whether or not it is possible to play HD content from another FVP via DLNA. If it isn’t then it might very well explain the OP’s comment that only 16 of 300 recordings were shown.

I will remove the card now.
Should be able to watch some recordings made after the foil was removed later today.
I am very interested in the results. I have been hesitating about buying an Aura and the pixelation issues on SD channels is the last issue that I would like to see resolved.

A bit Heath Robinson but it does appear to work. No glitches today on BBC1-HD and ITV-HD.
Have you tried removing the foil to see if the problem returns?

ParticipantPlease could you tell us how each of the FVPs is connected to the router?

No I am not missing the point! I hate to spoil people’s fun: but why are people obsessing about positioning of the Aura on a shelf or on top of another box? The POINT is that some Auras DO NOT WORK CORRECTLY. This may be to some lack of internal shielding as I suggested. But any PVR should work in a busy household tech environment. However I think that it is up to Humax to fix these problems. When they get enough returned Auras and test them they should know why.
Nobody disputes that it is up to Humax to fix any problems but sometimes they can be fixed quicker if users can come up with suggestions as to causes of the problem that might not be seen in a test lab environment.

I took an a4 piece of black card and cut out a piece of kitchen foil to the exact size. I folded over the edges about 0.25″ all the way round. And taped it down with the folded edges underneath . Inverted the card with the foil underneath and covered the box with the card foil side down. Theory is that the box screening in a plastic box could be poor to a rf source above the box.
Interesting experiment; keep us posted on how it works out.

I’ve installed Xplore File Manager in order to run the APK file, however I cannot find the USB drive within that to navigate to the APK. All the Aura internal drives and folders etc, but no USB. What am I missing please?
I’ve tried using both USB sockets; using a different USB drive (which has an LED which illuminates as expected when I plug it in) and have also tried a different file manager app; all with the same non-result.
What file system is the USB drive using?

Basically the aura is “on its own” on the shelf underneath the tv. I’ve tried to keep its cables away from anything else electrical.
So do you think the improvement is coming from isolating the Aura or rearranging the cables?

The other thing I noticed when I opened it was the mess on top of these boxes. Seems strange a manufacturer installed in this condition, could something be spilled on these boxes?
The “boxes” are the tuners so there could be a link between their appearance and the loss of signal; understanding where the contamination came from is the key to the puzzle.

Yes, that was my initial configuration.
Finally can you confirm that with only the SCART lead connected you tried each of the settings under Preferences>A/V Control>TV-SCART; did you should see differences in the picture quality between the different settings?

Martin, I changed from SCART because the picture quality suddenly deteriorated. I’ve tried different leads but each is the same. The picture option on my TV now only shows “Cinema 1” or “Cinema 2” with SCART whereas I previously had many more (e.g. vivid etc). I now have these options with HDMI only.
Did you remove the HDMI lead whilst testing the SCART leads? I am afraid I have no idea what Cinema 1 or Cinema 2 might refer to?

Thanks, tried changing to mono but no difference.
Have you tried my suggestion of going back to SCART and trying each of the settings under Preferences>A/V Control>TV-SCART ?

Change the sound output to stereo/pcm.
I think on a 9300T which doesn’t support HD the options are stereo or mono. I agree it is worth trying to toggle the setting and see what happens.
