SD plays fine, HD (as suspected) is visible but won’t play.
EEPhil has a rather inelegant workaround for the HD problem if you pop over to hummy.tv. I would only bother with it for a very important HD recording.

I haven’t heard of humaxrw. What is that?
It is a utility written by user xyz321 to allow recordings on a hard drive from a PVR 9200/9150/9300 to be copied to a PC and optionally copied back to the Humax hard drive.

I then plugged the stick into my 2000t and it was immediately recognized. However, despite the 2000t seeing the other files (that were already on the stick), I could not find the recording.
Is the problem here that by default the FVP writes the recordings into a directory with a leading “.” which in Linux signifies a hidden directory. If that is the problem then changing the directory name or copying the files to a non hidden directory should make them playable on the HDR.

As I only have access to a PVR1800, I cannot tell you which models it will work on, but since it uses the DLNA function, I cannot see why it would not work on any Humax that has the function.
If you are allowing HD content to be decrypted by changing a bit in the hmt file then it won’t work on any more recent Humax model as the files are, I think, encrypted.

My 9300T won’t boot up. It briefly shows the ‘application loader’ and progress bar moving across then just goes blank. I’ve tried powering up with the SATA drive disconnected, but no joy.
You have done the critical test and it failed. If it was me I wouldn’t waste any more time and consign it to the bin. You can extract any important recordings from the hard drive using humaxrw and they will play on more modern Humax boxes and quite possibly boxes from other manufacturers.

Yes I was getting this message when I was running the Front End version.
I will go and check the Administrative Privileges again, but being the only user I thought this would have been set already?
Nope. To get Administrative Privileges use Windows Explorer to locate the executable then right click on it and select “Run as Administrator” from the popup menu. I’ll be travelling for a few hours so will be unable to respond to any further questions until later this evening.

I have downloaded the Humax Front End – V1.01
Although the drive is connected to the computer on starting it I get the message saying it ‘Could not automatically find Humax Disk. Is it connected?
Do I have a problem or can I proceed and if so what disk number should I be selecting?
You obviously have a problem. It is a while since I have used Humaxrw. Are you running the Front end with Administrative Privileges?

I don’t know if anyone here can help me. I am trying to transfer the saved video files from my Humax 9300T if possible to the Humax Aura or my desktop computer.
I have extracted the hard drive in the 9300T and connected it to a SATA / USB cable to my computer. My computer is running Windows 10 and I was expecting it to appear as one of the drives in File Explorer but it doesn’t seem to appear? Is it meant to show up there and if so how do you fix this?
No the Humax 9300T uses a Humax proprietary file system that isn’t recognised by Windows.
I have downloaded humaxrw but would like some step by step instructions if possible to start extracting the files off the disk.
Have you downloaded the front end for humaxrw which if you aren’t familiar with using command line utilities will make life much easier for you?
I have a new Humax Aura – Is it at all possible to transfer the transferred files to this and if so how?
The Aura will definitely play the .ts files from the 9300T. I will let an Aura owner describe the best way to do it.

Thank you for your much more civil response, it’s appreciated.
I passed that comment on to Humax but they didn’t seem to understand it any more than did I.
The usual response would have been to ask for an explanation on the Forum not ask Humax. When trying to answer questions it is impossible to know what sort of technical background people have.
Is there a link you could supply that I could use to achieve this formatting?
To get the answers you want, you need to supply details. Do you have a computer; if so is it running Windows or Mac OS or Linux? What version of the operating system is it using? With the right detail we can point you to the right link.

I’ve had conflicting opinions and no clear instructions on exactly how to format this hard drive.
My reply of the 17th August, 20 minutes after your initial posting, suggested you format the drive with the NTFS file system but it must be with an MBR style partition table. If you can explain what you don’t understand about that reply then perhaps I or someone else can help you?

I was just doing a Google search about a Humax matter and in the process came across a forum called Blusas which appears to be a direct copy of this one, but not updated for about 9 months.
I seem to recollect that it has been discussed before and I think the answer then was that it isn’t a scam it is a test site for the forum software.

Could this be a disk not spinning up quite fast enough? I’m prett sure the firmware is at the latest iteration but could it still be that?
I see this from time to time if I press the button to show the list of recordings soon after coming out of standby. My solution is to do nothing and after 10 seconds or so the “No recordings” message disappears and is replaced by the list of recordings.

ParticipantI am very sorry to hear that news. Graham was very knowledgeable about PVRs and made tremendous contributions to this Forum. My condolences to family and friends.

ParticipantI think the image you have posted demonstrates quite clearly the Skyhawk isn’t formatted. I don’t have any idea why. If you have partitioning tools, then one way to format it in the correct way would be to clone the original drive to the Skyhawk and then increase the size of the largest partition to fill the extra space.
