    Postcode first part is BN14

    Channel 1 – BBC1 – 24 498000 khz

    Channel 3 – ITV – 35 586000 khz

Sorry I used an arbitrary BN14 postcode but that shows me that coverage in your location isn’t straightforward. Please could send me a Personal Message (top right of the Forum Index page) with the full postcode so I can do a proper check.

,/blockquote>The main problem I’ve been having is whenever I put the device on standby and try to turn it back on, all I get snow on the screen. It says to hit the F button to turn on, which sometimes works and sometimes doesn’t.

When you turn on the Humax on does it also turn on the TV?

I returned the first box thinking it was faulty but the second box does the same. Can this be resolved or is there a faulty batch?

I don’t think I have seen a similar report so my guess is that it is more likely to be a problem between your TV and the Aura. What make and model of TV do you have?

I also one time had the channel showing the nothing but black but was resolved after resetting the box but could happen again.

I have seen that a couple of times; I found that both times playing a recording for a few seconds and the stopping it fixed the problem. Perhaps worth trying next time.

It flicks back and forth between 66% and 14% but says no signal on the screen. Sometimes I get a picture and it glitches a lot.

Happens only on all the bbc, itv and ch4/ch5 sd channels. The HD ones are perfect.

I know that there are a few competing transmitters but my aerial is pointing to Brighton, but when I had a Youview box, it was all fine.

There is more than one possible explanation. Lets start with the easy one. Tune to BBC1 SD and repeat the signal test to the right of Tuner 1 you will see a line of letters and numbers; it should start “CH”, please tell us the number after “CH”. Then change channel to ITV and repeat the signal test, again tell us the number after “CH”. If possible could you give us the first part of your postcode.

I get similar issues with the SD BBC channels.

What is the signal strength and quality when tuned to BBC1? (Press Settings icon > Channel & Broadcast> Signal Test).

Tried what you suggested and all channels return similar results: 67-70 Strength and 100 Quality. With the exception of BBC 4 HD which was down at 54% strength and 100% quality.

What do you think? BTW, the BBC4 channel was not currently broadcasting if that makes difference? Should I try again when it is online?

OK so the general signal strength is OK. The fact that BC4 HD wasn’t broadcasting won’t matter as what you are doing is sampling the signal from each multiplex (a group of channels carried on a single frequency) and other channels on the multiplex will have been broadcasting. That still leaves the problem of intermittent signal drop. First thing I would do is look at the cabling leading into the Humax and do as much as you can to keep the HDMI lead well separated from the aerial lead into the TV. A common cause of interference is having the two in close proximity in a rats nest of cables.

Hello, how do you transfer recordings from your Aura HDD to an external HDD

I have to confess I am still a relative novice, learning my way around the Aura. Assuming you want the recordings decrypted to play on other devices then using FTP to a PC with the external HDD attached to the PC and the FTP download directory set to somewhere on the external hard drive would be one way to do it. You need to turn on the FTP server in the Aura settings (there are notes in the settings to give you the necessary parameters) and you need FTP client software, I would suggest Filezilla. Just setup a new site in Filezilla using the Site Manager (first icon on the left of the row of icons), enter the parameters from the Aura and set encryption to “Only use plain FTP (insecure)”.

Just now, the strength of the signal is around 70% while the quality is 100%. Or…….. is this strength decent enough?

That is a decent enough signal but it will only be for one multiplex. If you have an old aerial then it may be that it is designed for a group of frequencies that aren’t suitable for what is currently broadcast at your location. Tune in turn to BBC1 SD (channel 1) BBC1 HD (channel 101), ITV (channel 3), Sky Arts (channel 11), Quest (channel 12), Yesterday (channel 26), BBC 4 HD (channel 106) and repeat the signal strength and quality check for each channel. If they all return similar results then your aerial is probably OK; if one or more is significantly lower then please supply the first part of your postcode so we can check what the expected reception is at your location and whether a mistuned box is a possible explanation.

We have a Humax HDR 1100S Freetime, about 5 years old. Its very good, but has an annoying habit of chopping off the last few minutes of each programme we record.

Which channels does this happen on?

So can sombody just briefly please tell me what iPlayer problem this particular software update actually fixes.

A certificate in the authentication chain had expired so iPlayer was unusable and the fix just replaces it with a valid certificate as far as is known.

    it’s started working again!

FAT32 USB / Copy / stopped flashing when completed copying.

    Haven’t done anything differently.

I have changed the format of the 64GB Usb though.

Good, I was wondering if Windows 10 had used a GPT style partition table and I don’t know for certain whether that is supported on an FVP-5000T. There is a fairly simple way of finding out using the procedure in this link https://www.softthinks.com/how_to/How%20to%20know%20if%20my%20USB%20Drive%20is%20using%20GPT%20or%20MBR%20partition%20style.html If you have time it would be interesting to know what partition style the USB that works is using and whether the one that doesn’t work is using the same style?

How do I access the web control interface on the Aura? I would like to download a recording to my PC

The two options I have used for downloading are either FTP or using the DLNA server neither of which require access to a “web control interface”. Just turn on either the FTP server and/or the Network Server in the settings on the box. To download HD content without encryption you will need to convert it to a lower quality first.

Update – I’ve finally discovered what was preventing the FTP clients from working. On the Aura, in Record and Share, I had to switch on Allow Anonymous.

Can you now connect to the Aura via the TP-Link WiFi extender?

    64Gb exFAT & FAT32 16GB

As far as I know exFAT won’t work. I think the supported file systems are ext3, FAT32 or NTFS. You said in your original post “I have formatted two USB’s”; please tell us how you formatted them?

I have formatted two USB’s but it still won’t work.

How are you formatting the USB storage? What are the storage capacities of the drives?
