New drive ordered and delivered using Repassac link.
As a matter of interest, did you have a look at the date of manufacture shown on the label on the hard drive?

Occasionally channel 4 has picture tearing and sound problems with recordings. We do not have any problems with other recordings.
Slightly unusual problem. I would suggest doing a careful inspection of the aerial cabling looking for kinks or poorly made joints. Also make sure the HDMI lead and the aerial lead are kept as far apart as possible.

There were problems with the motherboard SATA interface and the Hard drive being recognised. They did offer a repair service for around £26/50, not sure if Humax are still doing this.
They did offer a fixed price repair service for this fault but this stopped quite some time ago. https://www.digirepairs.co.uk/repairs/humax-box-repair/ offer a fixed price repair service for £69.95 with a no charge if unable to fix policy.

If it isn’t full, try recording to it.
As far as I know you can’t record to an external hard drive.

I assumed that the sellers had bought of of production surplus stock. Unless the item arrives in origional selected anti-static protection I would send it back.
I would suggest looking at the date of manufacture which should be shown on the label on the hard drive.

My HDR1800T recorder stops playback after 3 hours (of a continuous recording, e.g. long film) and switches itself off. Can this be rectified?
Either press a key on the remote after a couple of hours or change the “Automatic power down” setting to off (Menu button> Settings > System> Power Management).

UPDATE – I found the default pin of 0000 and performed a factory reset. This hasn’t made any difference at all. No pausing – no recordings.
First thing to try would be to turn off the mains power power to the box for 10s. If that doesn’t help then my best guess is that either the hard drive has failed or the file system has gone read only.

If you look at the sidebar for other vendors the drive is described as new.
It is also an “Amazon’s Choice”. Why do you suspect that it is not?
The price, the fact that they have been our of production for several years, a general suspicion of sellers on Amazon Marketplace. Try reading this article if you think the Amazon Choice label is a recommendation of quality https://www.theguardian.com/money/2020/feb/06/amazon-choice-label-is-being-gamed-to-promote-poor-products#

Try Amazon
I am sorry but I have my doubts about the wisdom of using what is clearly a second hand drive with the SMART data wiped. I personally have wasted too much time with this type of drive. I would suggest getting a Seagate Skyhawk from a reputable seller.

I have recordings that I need to keep, can you tell me how I copy the recordings to a USB Hard drive ? and how do I copy the recordings back onto the box from USB Hard drive ?
If the new hard drive is the same capacity as the old one and you have plenty of spare space on a PC then the easiest way would be to take an image backup of the old hard drive and do an image restore to the new hard drive.

Has anyone tried this:-
Install Plex server onto laptop/pc.
Install Plex player onto Aura.
Transfer HD file from Aura to laptop/pc.
Will the encrypted file then play via Plex on the Aura, because its technically being played on the original device? Or does Plex not recognize/play the format that the Aura saves the file as?
I don’t see how Plex would be able to access the hardware that does the decryption.

My mistake, it doesn’t seem to have related files like fvp-5000.
Interesting observation; as far as I know all the earlier Humax PVR models had sidecar files. I assume the information that was previously contained in the sidecar files is now distributed between the ts file and perhaps a database.

The filenames are:
Bryn Fôn_ Chwilio am Feibion Glyndwr_20211125_2100.ts
Jürgen Klopp_ Germany’s____20200803_2303.ts
I am guessing it is a character encoding problem; probably easiest way would be to connect via telnet, change directory to .BACKUP, check very carefully that you are in .BACKUP and the issue
rm *
