I have seen for some recorders the header files can be copied and written back with a encrypt flag switched off – then the HD recording can be backed up to HDD plugged into the Recorders USB port giving a back-up. Dont know if this works with Aura…
I don’t know how to do this – any idea where to find information about this technique?
This forum has a policy of not discussing removal of encryption so I would suggest you pop over to https://hummy.tv to ask the question.

Cannot copy SD programs to external drive. The turning symbol just keeps turning without ending
It would help if you could tell us which model of Humax PVR you have please?

When I set up a series link now it shows on schedule but does not record. It also shows the date the series link was started in the schedule whereas before it would just show the date of the next show.
Can you give an example of a series that displays this behaviour please?

My 5000t ran Ok for some months but now I can’t see the Guide display – very, very faint so can’t set or even get back to Factory reset!
Have you tried connecting the HDMI cable to a different port on the TV? Also check that the HDMI cable is properly seated at both ends.

I am using ver a7.33
Sorry that is the loader version; what I was looking for is the main software version (Menu button> Settings> System> System Information).

Humax should read HDR-FOX T2
What software version is the HDR-FOX T2 using?

Do you think#l a factory reset might help even if it means sacryfising my prerecorded programs
Doing a factory reset will not not delete any existing recordings.

The layout of the antenna ports on the HDR-Fox T2 are side by side not one above the other (unless the design has been changed).
There are two designs; my early production HDR-FOX T2 has the sockets side by side but late production boxes use a different tuner arrangement with the sockets vertically aligned.

Do you (or does anybody) have any experience of replacing a Pipeline with a Skyhawk in their PVR, please?
Several people have reported fitting Skyhawks to various Humax PVRs without any issues.

Oaring and connecting. It can ruin watching on iPlayer. If my unit is Wifi enabled, why keep connecting and disconnecting a dongle? I do not have a separate dongle. Is this inside the box? How can I stop this happening.
It would help if you could please tell us which model of Humax PVR you have?

1. I’m almost sure the answer to this is going to be NO but here goes: Is there a way of moving some cherished recordings (HD) from the Fox T2 to the Aura?
Yes but you would need to remove the encryption which is not a topic that can be discussed on this forum; pop over to hummy.tv to ask that question.
2. I have a few devices which were ‘smart’ when I bought them but now they aren’t. These include the HDR Fox, a couple of TV’s and a BluRay player. All of them had BBC iPlayer, YouTube, ITV Hub etc. when new but over time support for these services has been withdrawn. (I’ve filled the gap with Chromecast dongles.) Given the Aura’s approach to delivering these services via Android, does this mean that it should be the end for services dropping off?
It is a good question but I suspect only time will tell. I think it will help if the version of Android on the Aura is updated but that hasn’t happened yet.

What is the chance of opening this device up for other developers?
What sort of features do users want?

I found I could add that channel, using manual scan, however that then seems to remove all the channels I had. Is there a way of scanning a manual channel in and keeping the Freesat channels as well.
This isn’t my area of expertise but I think you can do it with the custom firmware for the FOXSAT-HDR.

Will any Humax models allow editing like this?
The only HD capable Humax model that will allow editing on the box is the HDR-FOX T2 with the custom firmware installed but they are getting old and reliability issues are getting more frequent. I think your only option with the HDR-1800T is to download the content to a PC (using a method that removes encryption) and do the editing on the PC.

If it was a signal problem, it should be affecting other channels like ITV and Ch5.
So what is unique about Channel 4 then? The OP hasn’t told us what other channels he records and plays successfully.
