I use Windows 10 and when I look at the list of directories using the command prompt I don’t see the FVP-5000T DMS directory. I was going to use the command prompt to send the DIR list to a text file.

Firstly I don’t think there aren’t any real directories (unlike earlier models which did have real directories and even allowed users to create them); series are grouped together by the Humax software.

When you are using the DMS server you are interacting via the DLNA protocol rather than directly accessing the hard drive. Unfortunately I don’t have any ideas on how to do what you want. Maybe another member of the forum has a creative idea on how to do it.

Where and how do you enter reg. code

Please could you say which model of Humax box you have?

When I reinstated the previous cable (the hi-speed one), all the recordings came back and, once again, when I put the old cable back in, they all disappeared again.

It might be coincidence. One of the symptoms of the problem you describe is that at first it can come and go (presumably a marginal component); it might well get worse so watch anything important as soon as possible. Alternatively the hi-speed cable might be radiating a lot of interference.

    Hello,

I downloaded and installed the software, the software can find the hard drive and show me how many partitions, on the hard drive but can not open the files on the hard that I need copied.

Can you explain what you mean by “open the files”? I would not expect to need to open the files to copy them elsewhere. Can you see the names of the individual files?

The way the fault developed is odd in that the access to the HDD became more uncertain over a period of time. This suggests to me the gradual degradation of something passive such as an electrolytic, a soldered joint, or a resistor.

I agree with what you say. Some recent work over at hummy.tv investigating a problem with the HDR-FOX T2 resulted in someone with a lot of perseverance identifying a single faulty capacitor on the motherboard and subsequently a number of other people have confirmed that replacing the capacitor fixes the issue. It isn’t easy but it can be done; good luck.

I had a duplicate recording of the BBC1 One O’clock News. I had noticed a few days earlier that there was a spurious recording in my schedule of recordings for a single episode of the One O’clock News in a few days time. I have the News as a series recording and I can’t conceive that I had knowingly set the single episode recording. I left the spurious recording and it did indeed generate a duplicate recording. It might be worth other people who are seeing instances of this problem keeping an eye on the schedule of future recordings to see if spurious recordings in the schedule are the cause. Then the question would be how they are getting set.

I’m getting there slowly. Have managed to copy a few recorded programs onto a dvd, but they will not play on my dvd player. Do I need to convert the files to a different format?

Are these SD or HD recordings? Can you play the recordings on the computer using the free VLC player?

I must be the dumbest user around.

Found out that I can use my network option to transfer recorded programs on to laptop, dvd or usb. I managed to get the full list of recorded programs displayed on my laptop and that was great BUT when I have restarted the laptop and gone back into the network I can see the FVP-5000T DMR device and also FVP-5000T DMS device, but when I click onto them all I get is the properties displayed.

That will be using the DLNA server.

How can I get back to the list of recorded programs?

What works for me is in Windows Explorer click on “This PC” then scroll down to “Network locations” and you should be able to right click and select “Open”.

My question is, Will the Humax record programmes in 4K?

I wasn’t aware that there was any 4K broadcast content on Freeview currently? There is a limited amount of 4K content on iPlayer but I don’t think that can be recorded.

I am using a third party USB hard drive reader to read the hard drive in windows 11, windows 11 can find the hard drive but cannot open the hard drive so I can copy all the recordings that are saved on the hard drive.

Perhaps the free version of Linux Reader from DiskInternals might do the job; see https://www.diskinternals.com/linux-reader/

A jumper on pins 5 and 6! I’m looking for a direct replacement not something where I have to muck around with jumpers!

In that case I think you will need to buy a second hand drive which can be tricky to get one in good condition.

I’ve unplugged for a few minutes, cleaned out old timings, only used 43% HDD. I don’t want to do a reset as there lots of series I’ve yet to watch.

Any advise please would be appreciated.

Doing a reset to defaults will not delete existing recordings but you will need to redo the schedule of future recordings.

    SD recordings

OK with SD recordings there are various ways of removing the encryption; probably the easiest is to copy the recordings from the FVP to a USB memory stick or USB hard drive attached to the FVP; see https://myhumax.org/forum/topic/how-to-archive-recordings-to-usb-hdd. To transfer the recordings to the Humax plug the USB device into a PC and use an FTP client to upload to the Movies or Recordings/Upload directories. Then install a player from the Google Playstore; I use VLC and play the content. Alternatively plug the USB into the Aura and play the content from the USB storage.

I have up dated from FVP4000T to the Aura but have some recordings that I cannot get On Demand. Is there any way of transferring this data to the new Aura?

Are they HD or SD recordings?

    I have a 9 year old HDR-FOX T2/GB (sw rev a7.33)

Was working perfectly until the last few days – but now remote has no effect on it

Does the HDR-FOX T2 respond to the buttons on the front of the PVR itself?
