There is no signal strength indicated during manual tuning
Sorry I am confused; how are you manual tuning if you don’t know the channel numbers?
and on auto tune I am using the smart tune as I do not mind losing the old channels,
Smart tune is intended to keep the schedule of future recordings not old channels. In my view it is poorly implemented and causes more problems than it solves. Try turning it off.
I am not sure about the set of channels, I have looked them up on the site recommended on this forum but as yet have not found them, I am on the Beacon Hill transmitter
For Beacon Hill, SD channels (transmission type set to DVB-T) are 40, 41, 42, 44, 45
HD channel (Transmission type set to DVB-T2) is 47

I then renewed all the aerial connections and tried again with the same result, and manual tuning is the same as auto, am I missing something or is it likely the box is terminal.
What signal strength are you seeing when manual tuning? Do you have the correct set of channels for your location? When auto tuning are you turning the Smart tune option off?

The question now is – do I try to get it fixed or replace it with a new model?
Good question. Only you can answer; if you know somebody who is handy with fixing electronics and wouldn’t charge much then getting it fixed would be a good idea. If not a new box would seem a sensible choice.
I’m thinking that a new one should solve the problem.
Yes it would solve the problem. I would suggest you look at the Humax Aura and Manhattan T3-R.

Could you also tell if there are updates, should happen automatically?
PS If it sorts itself soon, I will inform you!
You haven’t told us which model of Humax box you have; I would guess that it is an HDR-FOX T2? If it is, the problem won’t be an update as the HDR-FOX T2 will only receive automatic updates via the aerial and that type of update stopped being transmitted several years ago. The HDR-FOX T2 boxes are getting old and there are increasing numbers of issues due to components failing due to age. This sounds a bit like an issue that has been traced to a faulty capacitor; the problem is fixable by someone used to doing electronic repairs.

If anyone can shed any light on these files and in particular how I can access the audio I should be most grateful.
The .ts file holds the broadcast stream (slightly modified by the addition of a timestamp) so the audio and video are both in the .ts file. I suggest you start by trying a different player; VLC works for me. You should then get video and audio and if you do then you will probably need to add CODECS to Media player to get the audio working.

One thing I did notice was as the new unit was updating itself was first in the list of fixes was to repair “Pixelating image issues”!!
What is the software version please?

Has anyone else had this happen and any reason for it?

The solwise ones must bt 15 years old?
I doubt it. The specification for 500Mb/s Homeplug adapters wasn’t introduced until 2012 so I would say less than 10 years and a 500Mb/s adapter should be perfectly adequate for streaming unless they have developed a fault.

Yes to same ring main and yes to direct into socket. The adapters are pretty old, made by Solwise. I might try them side-by-side in a double mains socket to see if the speed is better.
Good idea.

So now I was running the laptop through the adapters. Did a speed test which showed 27.27Mbs download and just 0.18Mbs upload (I’m wondering if that last figure is the issue).
I would think it is highly likely that the low upload speed is the culprit. Are the electrical sockets you are plugging the adapters into on the same ring main? I take it that you are plugging them direct into a socket rather than an extension lead?

How can I test the speed of the EoP boxes?
Most manufacturers provide a speed test utility; what make are yours?
Also the Aura is connected via WiFi as well as Ethernet. Should I try disconnecting the Ethernet and just run it on WiFi?
Give it a try.

ParticipantPresumably the IPad is connected via WiFi? Have you performed a speed test on the ethernet over power adapters? Have you tried connecting the Aura by WiFi?

Have you selected the correct AV input on the TV, the input the 9300 is connected to?
I agree with Biggles, your symptoms sound as if the TV is not looking at the correct port for the connection from the 9300T. If you tell us the make and model of TV and whether the 9300T is connected by HDMI cable or SCART we can probably give precise instructions.

This may have been asked but I’d like to watch my recorded programmes on my smart TV in another room over WiFi. If I press the source button, I can see the Aura listed, when I choose this, I can go to a video folder but it’s empty? What am I missing?
In settings under “Record and share”, do you have the “Network server (DLNA/UPnP)” enabled? Are these SD or HD recordings?

However, during this I noticed 2x blown components on the mainboard.
I have attached a picture from this site with the 2x components marked, what I believe is a SM cap and a SM transistor. The transistor is too burnt to identify.
Would anybody have access to a schematic or board to identify them.
It is an interesting observation but I don’t think anybody is likely to have a schematic so it needs an owner who is prepared to open up their box and see if they can identify the components; any takers? You might also want to post your question over at hummy.tv where there has been some interesting work recently in identifying the failed component causing boot problems on the earlier Freeview HDR-Fox T2 box.
