I have a FVP5000T which I bought recently. The content access it gives me is great but it is SO SLOW. Everything is slow, browsing the TV guide, accessing any of the streaming services – netflix. iplayer, itv hub etc – the delay is there (the blue circle!).
I think the FVP-5000T is considered as slow by quite a lot of people; I don’t think there is anything you can do to improve the speed. If you can still return the box to the vendor then that may be your best course of action. Possible replacements are the Humax Aura or the Manhattan T3-R which are both significantly faster than the FVP-5000T.

So……. It IS the Sky router causing all the issues.
Glad you got it sorted. Please could you give more details of the Sky router so that we can identify the problem more quickly in the future?

Other things I have done today is to uninstall my anti-virus, turn off the windows firewall and set up port forwarding in the Sky router to send port 2323 to the fixed IP Aura.
Still no change. No DNLA or FTP.
Do we know if it’s possible to change the FTP port in Aura?
I don’t know of a way of doing it.
My final test at the weekend will be to try a different router and plug just the Aura and my PC with a long cable into it.
I think that is a very sensible thing to try. There have been reports of Powerline adapters causing DLNA problems in the past, but I wouldn’t expect reasonably modern Powerlines to cause a problem and I wouldn’t expect it to be a cause of FTP problems. Certainly I cam access both FTP and DLNA via my Powerlines. I assume the router has no UPnP related settings?

File sharing is turned on.
My router is a bog-standard Sky one that came with with the Sky Q installation.
Aura does not show up as a DNLA sever on my wired PC, or any of my laptops connected via WiFi.
I have absolutely no idea why FTP isn’t working. As regards DLNA, can I check you have the DLNA server turned on (you only mentioned File sharing above)? We have seen DLNA problems with routers; have a look in settings for any options related to UPnP and see if changing them helps with DLNA.

The PieHole is certainly a great device for reducing unwanted screen clutter.
Thank you all again, I do feel rather stupid.
I don’t think there is any need to feel stupid; it was a pretty obscure problem and it was your use of AngryIP that allowed us to spot there was a potential problem. Glad you got it sorted.

The result from AngryIP Scan. As you can see Port 2323 is not responding.
[attachment=95275,2163]
I am not an expert on Angry IP but my reading of the documentation is that 2323 is being listed as filtered port which means “Filtered ports are those filtered by firewalls or routers, so there must be some reason why specifically these ports are being hidden.” Perhaps you need to investigate your firewalls?

Anyone else had these issues? Mine somehow cured itself for 18 months but has now started playing up again. Failed recordings, Error message says hard drive 95% full when there is only half a dozen programs recorded. Cheers
It sounds to me that the file system may be corrupt. Sometimes this happens randomly or it may be a sign that the hard drive is faulty. First thing to try would be to watch the recordings and then try to format the hard drive.

I suppose I’m expecting better response times plus quieter operation. At a cost of course.
An SSD should work but I would be very surprised if it makes any significant difference to the response time; it will certainly be quieter. If you do decide to use an SSD then look at the the TBW lifetime figures for the drive and decide if for your usage, the lifetime of the drive will be adequate. Different makes and models of SSDs have very different TBW values.

This is my result from AngryIP.
My result differs from yours in two respects (using default settings):
There is a time shown for the ping response of 17ms.
There is an open port of 8080.
If I then add 2323 to the list of ports to be scanned then it is shown as open.

These are my settings
The only difference between your settings and my settings for Filezilla is that for encryption I have “Only use plain FTP (insecure)”. For me it works first time, every time.

Sadly I don’t get that far. I can’t actually connect at all.
I have tried the browser method as detailed on the Humax share files screen and also using Filezilla, but all I get is the dreaded “Connection Refused’ message.
Could you tell us what your Filezilla settings are please?

Just contacted Humax and they say it’s a “compatability issue” and there’s nothing they can do.
I think they are stating the obvious. The question is how to overcome it. Have you tried using both HDMI ports as looking at a copy of the TV manual there do seem to be some differences between them. You could try contacting Panasonic technical support and ask what version of HDMI the ports are using. You could try inserting an HDMI splitter between the Humax and the TV to see if that helps. If you search this forum and hummy.tv you will find various previous posts about incompatibility between the HDR-FOX T2 and a new TV and most have been resolved satisfactorily by tweaking a non obvious setting.
Going back to your original post, I am puzzled that SCART provides picture but not sound. I assume you tried increasing the volume on the Humax remote; no sound is also a classic sign of the SCART lead not being fully inserted.

If this is a component failure will it be repairable or just to expensive to bother with?
Sorry rather busy yesterday. It is probably repairable but probably not cheap. It is an unusual problem though; have you looked carefully at the aerial in socket on the Humax to make sure it hasn’t been damaged such that the central pin of the aerial cable isn’t making contact.

Hi.
I’ve just replaced an old Sony crt tv with a Panasonic TX-24G310B and when I connect my venerable Humax HDR-FOX T2 (via HDMI) the tv display shows “No Signal”
Changing the HDMI ports and/or cables has no effect (the tv recognises my dvd player in either HDMI port, and with both cables.)
In the TV settings, is there an option to select the HMDMI version for the port the Humax is connected to? If so choose the lowest available version.

I have now been able to find the channel set numbers and followed your instructions
on how to do a manual retune and used the default setting for an auto retune.
There are still 0 channels found and the signal strength is 0 for both auto and manual checks
Am I correct in thinking that if there is no signal strength then anything I try is doomed to failure
Zero signal strength will mean doomed to failure. The next thing to look at is whether there is anything wrong with the aerial cabling that might cause the problem.
