Hi. My box is recording and playing back through the TV OK.
But, there are no TV guide, and no access to play live channels or option to add new recordings.
Have checked the aerial and HDMI cables and contacts, swapped cables and tried an alternative TV, all without success.
It is an odd problem. Have you tried turning off the mains power to the Humax for 30 seconds? If that doesn’t help then try a Factory reset to default settings which will amongst other things delete the schedule of future recordings but should leave recordings already made intact.
Can I get recordings off onto another device if needed ?
SD recordings yes, HD probably not.

Hi, I tried a manual tune and it wasn’t any better. The box is tuned into the transmitter that is the strongest according to the freeview website, for my postcode.
What did the Freeview website say about the anticipated reception quality?
When I said quality between 83%-53%, that is all the different muxes. So BBC1 is 83%, but still suffers from pixalating issues.
Signal quality needs to be 100% for the box to work properly. Check the aerial cabling for any badly made joints or kinks and if it appears OK send the box back for a replacement.

I just fiddled around with the leads and must have done something as the problem was sorted.
Ok; that suggests there is something with a poor contact in the aerial cabling or the PVR. Have a carful look at the connector on the end of the aerial cable for starters.

About two wewks ago when I turned my box on I got the message The receiver is not receiving a signal or the signal is too weak.I sorted that out eventually.
So what did you do then? Is there an amplifier somewhere in the aerial system eg masthead amplifier and if so is it (or its power supply) OK?

ParticipantI am afraid there isn’t much knowledge on the HDR-1003S in this forum. Where in the world do you live? Also you have posted about a satellite box in a terrestrial section of the forum which reduces the possibilities of the people with the knowledge of the nearest equivalent UK satellite boxes seeing your post. Admin please could you move he post please to a more appropriate forum section.

I have a Fox T2 with quite a few hours of film on
Can I transfer it to my new Aura Box ?
Yes. If the recordings are SD then just transfer them to the Aura via FTP; you only need the .ts file. If they are HD you will need to remove the encryption from them first; if you don’t know how to do that, pop over to hummy.tv and ask.

ParticipantFor all sorts of reasons it has been sitting in a drawer for many years, waiting for me to deploy it upstairs in a bedroom, with access to it coming via an H3 to our main AV system downstairs.
If it has been sitting in a drawer for many years, has it updated to the latest version of the software (1.03.53 21-Jan-2021)?

Hi
Yes thats the answer ; I downloaded an SD recording via ftp and it played fine but an HD rec did not
OK. It is very easy to transcode the HD recordings to produce a lower quality version that can be played. In the list of recordings highlight a recording and press the blue “Convert” button. It takes a while to convert (can’t remember how long) but once done when you access via FTP you will see two copies of the recording. The original HD will have an “_enc” suffix to the file name; the transcoded version will have a “_converted” suffix and should be playable on other devices. There are options in settings to trade off between picture quality and file size.
I guess Foxy is no use with the Aura ; I used it to copy HD files from my previous humax pvr no problem but the .hmt file does not seem to exist in the aura file tree
Unlike previous Humax recorders there don’t appear to be any sidecar files so Foxy is simply not applicable. Does anyone know whether the information that was previously held in the sidecar files is now stored in the .ts file or in a database on the Humax?

I have searched the forum but could not find anything
Any ideas?
Have you looked at https://myhumax.org/forum/topic/humax-and-sky-discs

ParticipantThe aura files are recognised and I can download .ts files but despite trying every media player I can think of I cannot play the .ts files ( VLC , Win Media Player ,
films and tv , movie maker , mpc-hc)no luck
Can someone explain why the .ts files will not play and what I can do to correct this
Are the original recordings SD or HD? Downloaded HD recordings will still be encrypted, you would need to convert them to a lower resolution format on the Aura to get something you can play on other devices

However, switching UPnP off, on the router, does not seem to have any effect on this phenomenon.
Not does it matter whether Extended UPnP Security is on or off.
I think it is turning off the Extended UPnP Security that has helped some people but your symptoms are different. Sorry no more ideas.

Noticed the clock times on both boxes keep being a few minutes out which makes it a bit hit or miss with recordings clipping the start or end. Would there a battery or something that’s causing it (like on a computer)
The clock time comes from the broadcast stream and is updated when the box boots. It does drift a bit but providing you are using accurate recording (rather than padding) it shouldn’t affect recording accuracy. If you really want accurate time then install the custom firmware and use the ntpclient package to update the time via your internet connection.

@jdlfreetime, The device does not seem to be mapped in any way to a drive letter, as an external USB drive would be, it just appears in the list of devices attached to the PC.
I have now seen it dis/re-appear when copying files between hard drives on the system, even the C drive, which is an SSD drive.
Have a look at your router and see if there are UPnP related settings and if there are try seeing whether changing them helps.

Just a thought. If you are able to view the drive of fvp-4000 in Windows admin interface, can’t think the name of it, maybe try remapping drive letter and see if this makes drive recognisable?
The OP said ” ‘Humax FVP-5000T DMS”; this is the DLNA server, not a SAMBA share; please explain in detail how you would map it.
