You mention the prospect of a resistor failure in the SATA HDD drive circuitry.

I don’t think there is any certainty that it is a resistor; I don’t think anybody here has fixed one of these boxes but it is obviously possible as Digirepairs can do it.

Forgot to say I get the message saying no signal before turn the Humax on,Not sure what significance of that is.

Do you have an aerial cable running from the Humax to the TV? If you have is the setting Power Saving in Standby set to off (Menu button> Settings> System> Power management).

Any idea where I can get it fixed?

Digirepairs in Northern Ireland are the only repair company That I know of that can fix the second fault I mentioned. See https://www.digirepairs.co.uk/product/humax-set-top-box-repair-bookingt

Watch telly, go to bed, thunderstorms in vicinity but no direct strikes here.Had set the box to record some programmes. Next evening turn on telly and notice NO recordings! Not only have the approx. 90% full vanished, the box will not record at all; directly nor planned!

Am I looking at hard drive failure?

I would say it is either a hard drive failure or a fairly common fault on the motherboard that means the hard drive becomes inaccessible.

Thank you. I believe the issue is with Channel 5 SD, apologies if the screen shot is for Channel 5 HD, the strength and quality are similar.

The screenshot is channel 5 SD. The signal strength and quality appear fine. I am guessing that the most likely cause might be interference; first thing to check is that the HDMI cable and the aerial cable are kept as apart as possible.

Yes Martin, it wont change channels, wont respond to buttons pressed and keeps flashing channel 5 not available like a strobe message lol, not that I even want channel 5, thanks for reply

If this is using the Humax remote then try changing the code set that it uses: see https://myhumax.org/forum/topic/multi-code-function-hdhdr-remote-1

Trying VLC UPnP stream option won’t connect either. Ditto on web browser ‘Unable to connect’.

With VLC I use Local Network> Universal PlugnPlay and that works fine for me. What make and model of router do you have (some interfere with DLNA)?

My brand new Sharp 40Inch 4T-C40BJ4KF2FB Smart 4K TV will not play my Humax 1100s FREESAT box, the remote control goes berserk when trying to change channel, it works perfectly on other TVs around the house . is this TV compatible with Humax ?

Could you explain what you mean by “berserk” please.

I would guess that production of the FVP-5000T has ceased so I would be surprised if there is more stock. If you buy an Aura from Humax Direct you get two years warranty if you register it (or at least I did a few months ago).

I am not aware that the Aura has more sensitive tuners than the FVP; several people think they are less sensitive. There have have been some problems which are due to marginal components in the tuner but Humax have been replacing the boxes of people affected.

1800T shows in Windows as a Network Location HDR-1800T Media Server 0.0.0.0

Double click shows My Contents -> My Video etc. SD videos show as just the title, HD do not show at all.

That is the DLNA server. If you use something like VLC you should be able to play recordings.

1800T does not appear under Networks, I just see my other PCs.

    I don’t think it will.

The Hummy cannot find the PC as a network location.

Do you have a DLNA server running on the Windows machine? I think the 1800T should be able to connect to that to play content from the PC.

Thanks for this, how do I know what code I need, there are about 8 different code do I have to try them all. Sorry to be a pain.

Start with 592 and if that doesn’t work go through the list of options until you find one that works. It doesn’t take long.

Tv is LG box is humax aura uhd 4 k

Red Freeview button> Settings> Freeview Play Preference

Scroll down to TV Pairing and follow instructions on screen.

For my three year old LG TV the correct code was 592. The first time I tried, I didn’t look carefully at the picture in the on screen instructions and was using the large power button at the top right of the remote; the one you need is the small power button to the left of the AV button on the top row (as per the picture).

Hi first time post.I am having same problem I want to

turn tv off and use av switching.I have followed instructions but nothing happens apart from remote turns Bluetooth function off and goes back to ir function only. This is an aura uhd box so I hope I’m in the right forum. When I was doing initial setup it got to the part where you set your tv up and wouldn’t do anything, so had to skip it.

What make and model of TV do you have?

The box has been put switched off each night (with the button on the remote not at the mains) so i don’t understand what the reboot did that switching it off doesn’t do

Using the button the remote puts the box into standby with the state of various things stored; turning off at the mains causes the box to boot from scratch with the state of everything reset.
