I’m having issues with last week’s Freeview retune down here in the southwest (Caradon Hill). If I retune my T2 I get most channels as one would expect. I have difficulties with ITV+1 and Great! Movies that should appear on EPG slots 34 and 35 (according to most info I can find). If I retune from scratch (including a factory reset) that is what I get and I can view both channels. At some point later Great! Movies disappears and ITV+1 takes its place on the epg and no amount of retuning or restoring can get it back (short of a factory reset).

Do you have the custom firmware installed and if so do you have the tunefix package installed?

Signal strength of 0% simply means the tuner is not in use.

The signal strength of 98-99% is in my view, higher than is desirable and MIGHT be causing tuner saturation. I suggest trying a variable attenuator in the aerial cabling such as https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/310039226920?hash=item482fc72a28:g:-MgAAOxyBotTZopc Then aim for a signal strength of around 80% and see if it fixes the problem. No guarantees that this will work but it has helped a fair number of people over the years but not everybody.

Another thing to check is that the HDMI lead is as well separated from the aerial cable as possible.

I’ve just tried that but it it hasn’t made any significant difference. There’s maybe slightly longer between freezes but the problem is still there.

What is the signal strength and quality as reported by the Humax when tuned to a channel with freezes?

My Humax FVP 5000T has started freezing every few seconds when I try to watch SD channels. All I get is a series of freeze frames. Sound seems to be okay. HD Channels seem to be okay. I’ve recycled the power hoping that it would solve the problem but to no effect.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Have you tried retuning with the Smart option turned off? You will lose the schedule of future recordings.

Mine is just saying no programme information right the way down, can’t see anything to record with.

It has previously worked for me.

It is working for me on Android 12.

    Clearly nobody cares!.

It is not true that we don’t care but your problem is very common but the people who have managed to fix it have not wished to explain how they did it.

After negotiating a BSoD on my PC (should have used Linux)

What caused the BSoD on your PC?

So it has to be ITV’s fault so

Clearly whoever is responsible for the metadata, used by the accurate recording, have changed something; I doubt that it is ITV. The question is whether the change complies with the broadcast standards or not.

I meant my freesat box is the latest box

It is interesting that a non Humax box is displaying the same behaviour as the Aura.

I use sub-titles on a selective basis like you and I haven’t seen this problem yet.

I would suggest trying the time honoured solution of putting the box into standby and then turning off the power for 10 seconds, then turning the power on again.

Just can’t work out if this is a broadcaster issue or a Humax issue as there is not an issue with the HDR. Do they use a different ‘process’ for picking up the accurate recording signal?

I would have guessed they were the same but clearly not. My feeling is that the broadcaster has changed something in the EPG data for Coronation Street; it may well comply with the standards but clearly the Aura doesn’t like it and the FVP-5000T isn’t very happy. If it complies with the standard then Humax need to fix it; if it doesn’t comply with the standard then the broadcaster has to fix it.

On an FVP-5000T, I notice that SD Coronation Street from ITV is consistently starting 5 minutes late.

All my recorded programs start on time except coronation street.

I have deleted it and re programmed but the same happens

I have had some issues with Coronation Street on ITV recently. I think it must be a broadcaster issue. I am currently using the ITV+1 version on channel 35 which seems to work better.

Every day my HDR-FOX T2 powers up at 4:30 (yes, am). There are no timers, reminders or recordings scheduled at this time. The PVR is in a bedroom and the power up annoys the occupants. Does anyone know why this happens and if the timing can be changed?

If you install the custom firmware for the HDR-FOX T2 then one of the many facilities available is to suppress the 4:30am check for firmware.
