Thanks for the response, but wouldn’t I then lose all my recordings?

Depending on the state of the old hard drive, it should be possible to copy the recordings from the old drive to a new hard drive.

    Would the 2000T be repairable?

It sounds to me as though it could be a hard drive problem. If it is then fitting a new hard drive would fix the problem and is fairly straightforward.

BBC 1 is sd, bbc2 is hd, Thinking about this, that could well be what it is, I will go through the channels & check. On my old one it made no difference as it was run on high as per instructions

Could you explain “run on high” please?

Yet another question for you good folk, I’ve connected a Soundbar using an optical link & found the Humax volume control works on some channels but completely ineffective on others. For instance on BBC 1 it works, you can turn it right up to right down, on BBC2 the volume indicator moves up & down but makes no change to the sound.

Are both of the BBC channels SD or is one of them the HD version?

Is there any more news on this? It hasn’t appeared on my Shield TV either, just wondering if it might still happen.

This article suggests it might https://www.cordbusters.co.uk/sky-now-tv-android-tv-chromecast/ but I haven’t tried and I don’t remember seeing any reports of people trying. I suggest you have a go and tell us whether it works.

Please can someone help, I’ve just got a replacement Humax, a HDR1000s, I have no instructions for it, unfortunately. I could programme the old remote to also operate the TV, so I am assuming I can this one.

Is there a model number on the remote you have? Where did you source the replacement HDR1000S from?

One link is for a windows version and the other link is for a windows version.

I think that should read “One link is for a windows version and the other link is for a 32 bit Linux version.

My postcode is SK17 9UN, when we picked it up from curry’s the guy checked and did say it was within range

The coverage prediction for your postcode is at https://www.freeview.co.uk/help/coverage-checker/detailed-view?postcode=SK179UN

The recommended transmitter is Belmont but this is 116km away which is well outside the capability of the aerial you have. The Buxton transmitter should give good reception on three multiplexes but will mean you are unable to receive the other three multiplexes so you will be missing quite a lot of channels. The Buxton transmitter is almost due North from your location; does your house have windows facing in that direction? If not, your best course of action might be to consult a local aerial installer to see what they recommend.

Is it possible to use an android phone to change channels, use the guide, set recordings etc?

There is an app for the Aura which will let you set recordings but I suspect it won’t let you change channels other than to play recordings on the phone. Maybe someone who has more experience with the app can comment.

the strength should be as near to 100%, it might be anything over 50-70%+, but you really do need a good signal, especially I would have thought in the peak district?

For an FVP-5000T I would say aim for a signal no higher than 90%.

Other thought if this doesn’t work is install a freesat dish?

NB If a Freesat dish is installed you will also need a different PVR.

I purchased the One for All SV9420 aerial as they suggested it at Curry’s and I’ve plugged everything in and tried scanning for channels but nothing comes up so I’m a bit stuck as to what to try. It also shows no strength when selecting the signal test aswell.

Is the aerial I’ve got right for the freeview box I have or is there a better one?

There are transmitters close to Buxton so the SV9420 aerial should have a chance of working (it is designed for cases where you are within 9 miles of the transmitter). If you could quote your full post code we can give a better opinion on whether it should work?

From this evening my Humax tells me my tv no longer supports digital content protection (HDCP) and to disconnect HDMI cable and connect composite video connection.

Anybody had experience or knowledge to correct.

My tv is not a smart tv, I did think my Humax could have updated meaning my tv is to old to support my box.

It would help if you tell us the make and model of the TV and which model of Humax PVR you own?

Yeh mine does it even when watching normal TV, hadn’t done it for about ten months but it has started again.

In my experience every model of Humax PVR suffers from an occasional reboot; one in ten months is pretty good going. As far as I know the reboots are due to the Humax software crashing, probably an unhandled exception.

I have noticed that Humax seem to abandon previous models quite quickly.

There is certainly some truth in that but at the moment Humax only make money by selling new boxes; supporting old models with software updates just costs them money.

In my case the hardware for 2000T, 5000T, and even the really old 9150, still work.

As an early buyer of a 9200T, I can say that Humax invested a lot of time, effort and money in producing a series of updates to the 9200T which transformed its capability. They also did a lot of work in the early life of the HDR-FOX T2. I don’t think we have seen the same commitment on later models. Particularly disappointing for me was the decision to suddenly stop software development on the Aura when they had made good progress in fixing bugs but still had some fairly commonly experienced bugs remaining.

Would users be prepared to pay an annual subscription to fund software work on existing models?

I played the early evening news (at 1715) and very quickly it jumped back to the football. So it would seem that this is not region related.

If this is easy to reproduce then it should be reported to the BBC as a complaint.
