All the characters are alphanumeric and the password is 14 characters long.
OK I have found old posts that say long passwords are acceptable. In your original post you said “not connecting to the network”; can you describe in detail what you do to attempt to to connect? Anybody any other ideas?

I have the Humax 150N Wireless LAN USB Adaptor in my HDR FOX T2.
On setup, all seems well and there are no error messages.
However, the unit is still not connecting to my network.
Does your WiFi password have non alpha numeric characters? How long is it? I have a vague recollection that there are limits on the HDR-FOX T2 WiFi password. Maybe some one with abetter memory can tell us what they are?

Over the past few weeks we’ve started to notice that whilst recording one programme most other channels are non-watchable (“this channel is scrambled or not available”). The non-watchable channels vary depending on which channel is being recorded and sometimes more channels are viewable than at other times when recording the same channel.
I’ve done some testing, namely:
1. Record BBC1 (SD) and ITV1 (SD) simultaneously
Result: (1) during recording I can’t see BBC1 and BBC2 but all other channels are viewable
2. Record BBC1 (SD), ITV1 (SD) and watch C4
Result: The Signal Check indicates that all 3 tuners are working and at near 100% strength & quality
Finally, when recording BBC1 (SD) and ITV1 (SD) simultaneously, more often than not the BBC1 recording will FAIL; ITV1 recording is generally OK.
Things I’ve tried:
1. SMART Channel Search: 0 channels found (!)
2. Disconnect power: no difference to above behaviour
You have given a pretty comprehensive report so that is a very good start. First thing to check is that you have the HDMI lead well separated from the aerial lead. Strange as it may sound, 100% signal strength may be too high (signal quality should be consistently 100%) so if you have an amplifier try temporarily bypassing it or try an adjustable attenuator in the aerial feed with the aim of getting the signal strength down to about 80%. I am not a great fan of the SMART channel search which can leave your tuning in an odd state. I would suggest sacrificing your schedule of future recordings and doing another autotune or doing a manual tune using the instructions in the FAQ at https://myhumax.org/forum/topic/manual-tuning-instructions-1

With BBC SD channels being withdrawn will the Humax software cope when scheduling recordings.?
At the moment you are offered the choice between recording in SD or HD
The prompt for choice of SD or HD recording comes from metadata in the broadcast stream. Presumably as and when HD is the only choice, the metadata will be amended and the prompt will no longer appear.

I think I’m right in thinking that retuning won’t lose all my schedules, these days?
With Smart Retune on the schedule will be retained but the Smart feature is not problem free and if that doesn’t solve the problem then you are probably best advised to turn it off and retune again. A good tip is to photograph the schedule before the retune so you have a record.

Edit:SORTED!
Will leave here for others though – the aerial plug looked fine with no stray wires etc. but I cut it off and re-attached. All seems fine now
Excellent. I never ceased to be amazed that a poor connection or a kink in a cable can create a notch filter that will make a multiplex inaccessible but it certainly happens as you have discovered.

Thanks again Martin that worked
I think you ought to be thanking Brian actually.
Last question (promise I will stop bugging you),
There is no limit on the number of questions you can ask.
is this upgrade recommended?
i.e will it make transferring files from Humax to portable device significantly easier?
What the custom firmware does is add additional functionality alongside the existing Humax software. I am not an expert on the Foxsat custom firmware but it does add significant functionality to the standard software. It is IMPORTANT not to get confused and assume the Freeview HDR-FOX T2 custom firmware is the same thing. A list of the packages that can be installed on the FOXSAT is at http://hummypkg.org.uk/foxsat/ Sadly this forum lost its most knowledgeable satellite expert when Graham Thompson died suddenly 18 months ago. You might get a better answer to your question over at https://hummy.tv in the Foxsat Customised Firmware section where some of the developers post answers.

ParticipantI suggest you report the problem to Freesat and see what they say.

TV does not have scary but it must be a box problem as previous recordings are all coming up with purple hue. Looks like purple is replacing red colours.
Thanks for your response. Might have to invest in new box. Had this one for almost 15 years. Served me well.
Your problem in buying a new box will be what to get as Humax no longer produce Freesat boxes and the official Freesat box produced by Arris had a lot of issues when launched but I don’t know the current situation.

With regard to the skipping adverts and finding it has skipped back, I thought it may have been a problem with the hard disk but from what you are both saying it seems to be a software problem, I will look to see if 0:00 is showing at end of recording next time.
It is definitely a software problem and probably the most commonly raised issue about the Aura.
I have the Aura set to never Deep Sleep so assume that is nothing to do with the restart every few days.
My settings are the same and it definitely happens on a fairly predictable schedule.
I can live with that but the screen yellow and recording skipping are my main worry.
As regards the screen yellow you might try looking at the HDMI settings on the TV for the port you are connecting the Aura to and experiment to see if changes help. Please let usknow if you find a solution.

My picture on Foxsat HDR is coming up with a purple hue.
I have changed HDMI cable and aslso switched off completerly and reconnected new cable and picture is still coming up with purple hue.
I don’t think it is a common problem and I do think you have done the sensible things. Perhaps try a SCART cable if the TV has a SCART input.

1. When watching live TV we sometimes get a blank yellowish screen and loss of sound for a second or two.
I haven’t seen that behaviour. What make and model of TV and what resolution settings are you using on the Aura?
2. When playing back some recordings and skipping adverts the recording skips back to a much earlier place in the recording, you can actually see the recording position on the marker bar jump back.
Well known problem that Humax should have fixed. When you bring up the progress bar, look if the end time is 0:00; if it is you can be sure skip won’t work properly.
3. Every few days when switching on the Aura it goes through the long start up process rather than the usual last channel watched.
This behaviour was introduced by one of the software updates; my guess is that there was a memory leak that Humax hadn’t yet identified. As software development has been stagnant recently, I fear that the memory leak will never be identified and this behaviour will remain.

According to all the guides for my region, ITV4+1 should be on channel 89, and is on the TV itself. However, on my Humax 5000T it’s on channel 60, with 89 showing Drama+1.
Any thought why this is? Should retuning fix this?
ITV4+ moved from channel 60 to 89 on 29th March 2022. When was the 5000T last retuned? I would expect a retune to fix the problem, if it doesn’t then turn the Smart retube option off and tune again.

I don’t remember using one of these but I must have as “ext2explore” works like a charm – Thanks Martin
Glad you got it working.
Last question, I am running Firware vU7.51, do you know if there is a later version I could download?
Firmware U7.51 is the loader; the main firmware latest versions are (I think) 1.00.21 for the standard firmware or 4.1.3 for the custom firmware.

I use the utility to format the external HDD and select ext3
Windows won’t read ext3 drives natively so you must have been using some add on to read them. Try this article for some suggestions https://www.howtogeek.com/112888/3-ways-to-access-your-linux-partitions-from-windows/
